Dr. Kerker and Dr. Spears Optometric Physicians

I have never experienced such a rude and incompetent office staff. Not only did they over bill me, they wrongly billed me- but it seems more like insurance fraud, as they're also billing my insurance company. When asked for an itemized bill, the young lady just about threw it at me. The optician stated that she had been "attacked" in the office, so the door is locked through business hours. If this is the way they conduct business, I don't wonder why. Such a shame because Dr. Spears is excellent and always such a delight. But I'll be booking exams elsewhere going forward.

Donna at the desk was very sweet. She was so helpful with scheduling. Knowing that I could possibly be late she assured me that I would still be seen by Dr Spears. Dr is always great. She's knowledgeable, kind and funny. Knowing that I'm never happy hearing that my eyes aren't what they used to be she makes me laugh about it. I've never had a Dr who made me feel like I sitting chatting with an old friend. She goes out of her way to make sure her patients are relaxed and comfortable. She always takes her time with the eye exam to ensure that I get exactly what I need. Dawn helped me find the perfect frames that fit into my tight budget. She also took the time to fit them perfectly and showed me how to wear progressive lenses. The entire experience was pleasant and I will definitely be back.

Very friendly staff, and very good with getting you in close to appointment time, but more importantly, Dr. Spears is dedicated to helping you get the best prescription for you. Normally, I am very anxious, like I'm going to lead the Dr. to the wrong prescription, but she took her time to make sure that I was comfortable with the one she ended up giving me. Going to her makes me realize how many "not so great" optometrists I have actually been to in the past (unnecessarily dilated my eyes, put lenses in backwards, told me I was going blind - thankfully I can laugh at that now) I won't be going anywhere else now that I have found Dr. Spears.

I would never go back to this doctor. Starting at the beginning the wait was over two hours. I find this rude and inconsiderate. The staff is also snippy and rude to customers. The worst part is that they find ways to over charge for their services. I have always gotten my and my children's eyes examined each year. This doctor decided that each part of the exam is charged separately and conveniently never part of the "general exam" the insurance covers. I have had several eye exams as have my children through other eye doctors and they all included the glaucoma test as well as the dilation and refraction. When we went to other doctors we got a comprehensive exam with out all the additional charges that Dr. Spears added.She also didn't just charge the difference between a contact exam and a regular exam she charge for two full exams although it was only one exam in reality. No one else we have ever been to has ever done that. She also writes on the contact exam prescription that it is only good for a year or two I can't remember which it was, but it was a shorter time than any other doctor we have been to.(We have been to many eye doctor due to insurance changes) She had claimed it was "State regulation" I showed her a copy of the state regulation that proved she was lying and she just said that was her policy and she would not change it. That way you have to go back more often for an eye exam especially a contact exam which normally is not covered by insurance and is quite expensive compared to an eyeglass exam. The eyeglass store in her office is another issue. They have a very limited amount of glasses to choose from and they do not update them very often.When my daughter got her glasses there we had been waiting so long that we had to leave as soon as they gave them to her. So she didn't have time to look at them or try them on. When we got to the car she took them out of the case and she put them on and there was a huge scratch in the lens. So I called the store and they said we must have done it. I was furious and argued and they finally agreed to change the lens "THIS TIME". Then we had to wait about weeks AGAIN after waiting two weeks the first time. The man in the store is so nasty to customers. When we got the glasses I had asked if they have a cleaning cloth (All other glasses I have ever gotten come with them). It wasn't like I was asking for a big thing but he acted like I was asking for the glasses for free. He said there would be a charge for the cloth. I just said forget it. He also put my daughters glasses in a huge and ugly case. I asked if they had a smaller more feminine case so she could fit it in her purse.He just said "No, you get what it comes in!" I actually watched him putting the glasses that came in in cases so I knew he was lying but for some reason unknown to me he was just being a jerk. All my kids as well as myself wear glasses and as I had said we have been to many different eye doctors as well as eyeglass stores and have NEVER had an issue until we went to this place. I can promise we will never go back.

The receptionist who's name is Donna was very rude and unprofessional. She got very snotty with me and hung up on me. I called back to talk to a supervisor she transferred me to a doctor instead who then told me to not come back and go somewhere else. So that's what I will be doing. They are charging extra fees for eye exams and the wait is almost 3 hours long. Don't bother going here! Go somewhere where you are treated with respect and won't be charged extra fees.

Have been going here for several years now. Love Dr. Kerker and Dr. Spears! Paul in the frame office was always awesome, he retired and, they found Dawn who is equally as awesome. So many great frames to choose from, it is always so hard for me to choose, but they are so patient with me and help me pick!

I am more than pleased with the Doctor. I am disappointed in the additional eye exam costs they are charging. I have an HSC card for my health savings and was also charged to use my card.

I just try to make an appointment with these Drs. at this place today 2-20-24 but the woman who answered me the phone. She is called PATH told me that they do not take my insurance (AETNA) when she even did not take any information is required for verification, this woman was racist and very rude. Do not believe them when say take the most insurances because is not true. Save yourself a bad time, probably they know nothing or they are not update with actual technology.
