I have also submitted a review of the Westfield, NJ Eye Care & Surgery Center, including its staff, which is meticulously clean, quiet, and well-organized. When you enter this Center, you are greeted with warm, knowledgeable individuals just like the doctors themselves. I have had the pleasure of being cared for by Dr. Confino for over 25 years. He is one of the Finest Ophthalmologists in the Tri-State Area. He always greets you warmly, listens, and treats all with a caring manner. He is a Step Above his peers within the New Jersey & New York Metropolitan area.
Dr. Confino was courteous and explained everything well. His support staff were also friendly and did their check-up work well.
Office is unprofessional. Did not do an entire exam. Did not dilate my eyes during annual visit through my vision insurance Wanted me to come back a month later to dilate my eyes then charge me another visit billed through medical insurance. Scam to want another unnecessary visit. Would never recommend this office.
Staff and technicians were great, but my experience with Dr. Confino was disappointing. I received conflicting instructions about my glasses, and when I raised concerns about blurry vision and headaches, he was dismissive instead of helpful.
Such a wonderful doctor, and person. I look forward to seeing him each year, which is probably now well over 35 years. I have been confident in his opinions and judgement throughout the years. He guided me through a series of eye glasses, and finally, cataract surgery, which can be scary, with ease and confidence. He is, and has always has been, the best, no doubt in my mind.
Dr. Confino is a great doctor and explains everything very well. His assistant working the day I was there was also very informative and thorough. The office is very well run and the staff is friendly .

I accompanied my mom to an appointment with Dr. Confino, and I was extremely disappointed with the experience. When we arrived, an assistant performed a series of basic tests but never evaluated the overall health of my mom's eyes. After dilating her eyes, we were made to sit in the waiting room for another 30 minutes.
When Dr. Confino finally came in, he briefly told my mom that her vision hadn't changed much. He put a headlamp on his head, used a handheld lens to look into one of her eyes for just a few moments, and that was it. He never performed a thorough eye exam, never used the slit lamp, and never properly examined her eyes, despite the dilation.
When I questioned why her eyes were dilated if he wasn't going to perform a full exam, he insisted he had checked everything -- he became defensive. I specifically asked if he examined her macular, and he said yes. However, I am very familiar with what a proper macular exam involves, and it was clear that he did not do it.
Overall, Dr. Confino came across as lazy, unprofessional, arrogant and lacking basic bedside manner. I would absolutely not recommend him to anyone seeking a thorough and respectful eye exam.
