I have very much enjoyed working with Dr. Confino, Dr. Shah and the staff at the Eye Care and Surgery Center over nearly a decade. Dr. Shah and Dr. Confino are both very kind, knowledgeable, and patient. My PRK eye surgery performed by Dr. Confino went well and was a success. The cataract surgery performed by Dr. Shah went smoothly and I felt no pain. I can see clearly and do not need eyeglasses; and I thank Dr. Confino, Dr. Shah and the other doctors and staff for their great work!

I get all the way over here and the lady says at the counter I didn't have your phone number and I was trying to contact you. I replied that's interesting because here's the text messages you've been sending to me as recent as of yesterday for my appointment confirmation.
She says "We don't take your insurance and we canceled your appointment." Very unprofessional. Especially the fact that they've been sending me confirmation text messages even the one the day before....

I recently had an eye exam with Dr. Joel Confino, a wonderful and professional man, in Westfield and I am grateful for his thoroughness and attention to detail. He also has a knowledgeable staff who explain what they are looking for as you walk through the different exams. When it comes to picking out new frames and insurance questions, Amy Shabat, provides the best personalized service. She is a most qualified optician who has a warm personality along with fashion sense. She helped me select the frames that I love and that look good on me from their extensive frame selection. Thank you for a positive experience.

I love that I was taken care of at this clinic. The doctor and her assistants are extraordinary! Nice place and people were so polite. Dr. Leapman is a great doctor. She took care of me and with patience, explained to me what was going on in detail without rushing. She also let me speak without rushing. The only issue I had was at the front desk by a young woman and an older lady. I come in and I say good morning and I was ignored. I think they may need to be trained a little better on how to deal with people. They seem bothered when you approach them. That was the only issue. Other than that, I recommend this place to absolutely everyone five stars from me.

Horrible experience as a new patient. Booked an appointment weeks in advance and received multiple emails to confirm my appointment. I show up to my appointment only to be told that the Dr. was out of office and I would need to reschedule my exam. I asked if anyone else could take me because I took off work for this appointment and they just said that wasn't possible. Why wasn't I notified beforehand? My appointment was middle of the day so they had plenty of time to do so. The receptionist was cold and never apologized for the inconvenience. Will be looking elsewhere and recommend others to go anywhere else.

My wife and I had been patients at this practice for about two decades. I was never particularly happy with how the practice was run but until about three years ago not unhappy enough to go somewhere else.
When I went in 2022 it left a bad enough taste in my mouth that I had resigned myself not to return. My wife constantly reminded me that with my chronic conditions I needed to have my eyes examined and I decided to give them another try.
I made concurrent appointments for my wife and I and we went today (2/2025).
When we tried to check in we were each handed separate forms for $30 & $60 for services that are "not covered by any insurance ". The one ($30) I was familiar with as it is for if you don't want your pupils dilated and was always elective. The other ($60) I still don't understand as I have always come here and never had to pay it before.
When I tried to explain that I had two forms of insurance and never had to pay this charge before the clerk behind the counter snottily said "Ok, then you will not get to read an eye chart and you will not leave here with a prescription ".
What would be the purpose for the visit if this were the case? Long story short, they got their $90 and lost two patients.

Dr Confino & no other youngsyers I would trust w/my eyes...He was attentive and careful in his analysis w/o having missing a beat on having a sense of humor...There is something inextricable about a tenured physician that just knows, coupled that w/style that finds one hopeful and well looked after is what most robots - not an understatement - in "Healthcare" are missing nowadays. Thank you doc, sincerely.
