Can't believe how lucky we are to have a surgeon like Dr. Mahesh nearby. My intellectually disabled brother had congenital posterior polar cataracts that most ophthalmologists would not touch. As my brother lost his vision and we pushed the issue, we were referred to Westchester Medical Center and Dr. Mahesh. We also saw a well-known surgeon at Columbia's Edward Harkess Eye Institute in NYC for a second opinion, who was reluctant to do the surgery. Dr. Mashesh was confident from the start. Most of his cases are complex -- that's just what he and the other WMC ophthalmologists do. After my brother had his first eye surgery last fall with none of the expected complications, he had the other eye done a few days ago. We are so grateful for Dr. Mahesh and also Dr. Max Schlesinger, the WMC retinal surgeon who was on standby in the OR just in case the complication happened. My brother has his vision back. Thank you!!!
