Dr. Peter S. Schwartz, MD

Dr. Schwartz is superb. He is very knowledgeable, attentive, and kind. I had cataract surgery in both eyes, and soon, I had a clear vision. Dr. Schwartz is a skilled surgeon and a kind person as well. The staff in his office are friendly and very efficient. It was a very positive experience overall.

We have seen Doctor Schwartz for roughly 9 years due to the lack of pediatric ophthalmologists in our area. We have driven over two hours for each appointment round trip. We have had decent experiences in the past with the nurses. The scheduling staff can be rude and condescending. No real appointment follow-ups are conducted. There is more of a sense of entitlement over customer service. If you need to have your child seen... prepare to wait approximately 7 months... and maybe be laughed at on the phone if you request a call from the doctor. Look elsewhere.

Dr. Schwartz is an outstanding ophthalmologist. He has followed us for years, and we are very grateful to him for his professional care. He is a highly competent & a caring physician; we are glad he is in town. The office has wonderful staff as well (e.,g., Kelly, Karen)

I decided to switch to Dr. Schwartz after having an unpleasant experience at Arleo last year. Was well worth the wait for the initial appointment!! This practice seems to treat patients like family. I was able to purchase glasses right after the appointment for very reasonable price. Loved the new prescription, so came back asking if I could get corresponding contacts. (expected to have to make another appointment for another exam and wait another few months) NOT the case!! Got trials within 2 days and a new 6 month supply the following week. Super good receptionist. (I think her name is Brittany but not sure) Love this place! Everyone seems always eager to help.

Dr. Schwartz and his medical personnel provide a great ophthalmology service. Unfortunately, it seems that more recently all Dr. Schwartz's services related to glasses (Vista Optical) are left to a receptionist! During my last visit she had no idea about options available for glasses (scratch resistance, coating, etc). At the end I have had to insist that she finds my previous order and at least follows the options selected by me previously. Nobody contacted me when glasses were ready. Another receptionist has given me the ordered glasses without any offering to check them and adjust the frame. I would not recommend Vista Optical to anyone. It ruins all great work done by Dr. Schwartz.

My son has visited this office several times over the last 12+ years, when structural issues needed to be assessed and/or ruled out. I really cannot speak highly enough of the vast skill and knowledge Dr. Schwartz brings to the equation. Sue, is also extremely knowledgeable in the field, and they both bring a kind demeanor and relatedness to their presence with their patients. I also want to add that their office has been blessed with an office manager 'at the helm' - Kelly. Kelly helps you to set up your appointment, to answer questions you have, and to help you find your way through any follow up steps. To hold this position requires a real grounded presence, an ability to adapt to sudden change, to maintain a clear perspective, and to have people feel in his presence feel like they are heard and matter. Kelly brings such a steady, caring compassion to the experience at this office, and makes everyone feel honored and respected. I am really moved by the goodness of people in life. Dr. Schwartz was great for the short amount of time we were with him. I am giving a low rating due to his staff. The majority of the women who answer the calls are rude. They make you feel like you are bothering them. I have been placed on hold several times with no warning and even while I was speaking. There is one in particular who I've had several times and she never listens, places you on hold and just tries to schedule an appointment without listening to why you are calling. I have asked for messages to be sent to the dr and was given attitude each time. I've had to push and push for answers. The Dr asked me to call when I had a date for my daughter's brain surgery so he could decide when to see her again. The girl I spoke with did not want to let him know instead she was insisting I came in for the appointment. Based on my discussion with the Dr I knew he would not need to see us until after her brain surgery. I had to push for her to speak with him and like I figured he wanted our appointment canceled and pushed out a month after surgery. This last incident I was told she was not going to bother him with a message and she would get back to me the next day. This was after she cut me off before hearing why I was calling, put me on hold and got back on saying she would put us on the schedule for the next day. I told her I did not even get to why i was calling because she cut me off and I got a big huff and "go on finish". Mind you this was an urgent issue and I never received a call back. It's now been a week. I feel you should feel comfortable with the entire staff and they need to be reliable. The receptionists are the ones you primarily deal with and the first ones you see when you go. They are rude, unprofessional and not welcoming. I am now driving 2 hrs away for a different doctor. Its very unfortunate.

The scheduling staff are so rude at this facility. They don't care about the person. My child is in tears today as the glasses are way too strong and they are telling her she has to come back in February, as there's nothing available; and yet she starts college in August. It's just common decency to care about a patient and want to see if you can make something right in case you did something wrong yourselves for liability. Why would you want a patient out there feeling dizzy and having migraines, but they don't care. I'm done. ... no longer work w/ such a horrible office experience. We will go elsewhere.
