Ophthalmology Associates of Staten Island

My elderly mother is a patient there. She has received excellent care from several different doctors in their office. They have definitely improved upon the wait time, as I recall years ago having to sit in the waiting room for an excessive amount of time. The staff are all friendly, patient, and helpful.

I went to this ophthalmology center recently for my eye exam and honestly, I was so impressed. From the start everything felt smooth -- the place is super clean, organized, and you can tell they know what they're doing. No long wait times, no stress, just a really comfortable vibe. What really made the visit stand out was the eye doctor. She was not just good, she was amazing. Super kind, patient, and honestly one of the most experienced specialists I've ever met. Usually when I go for eye exams it feels quick, like they just want to get it done, but here it was completely different. She actually took the time to explain everything, step by step, and made sure I understood what was going on with my eyes. She answered all my questions without rushing me, and I really appreciated that. It's rare these days to find a doctor who's both very professional and genuinely kind at the same time, but that's exactly what I experienced here. I left feeling confident about my vision and so grateful that I chose this place. If you need an eye exam or any eye care, I definitely recommend this center. They make you feel taken care of from the moment you walk in.

Worst experience I could have imagined. I went there without insurance by appointment, sat in the lobby for over an hour waiting to be seen, and was charged $250 for a five-minute visit, only to be told that I needed to pick up eye drops from a pharmacy and come back in a week for another $250 appointment. I thought, fine, whatever the doctor says. I went to the pharmacy 4 hours later, the address of which I had been asked TWICE during my visit, only to find out that the prescription was never sent. When I called the office to ask why, I was told that I did not have a prescription. When I explained that this was not true, I was put on hold for 10 minutes. After that, a representative picked up, said hello a few times, clearly did not hear my response for some reason, and then hung up. When I called back immediately, which any normal person would do, the call was answered by a different, extremely rude woman who almost yelled at me, saying they were working on my prescription, and then hung up the phone without saying hello or goodbye, as if I had been annoying her all day. I found this clinic through ChatGPT, and it was described as "the best" option. I am afraid to even imagine how the others are if this is considered "the best." Don't waste your money and time with them.

Had a great experience at this office. I was having a problem with my eyes and the office was so helpful in squeezing me in at the last minute. I had a great exam and will be going back every year.

Went to see dr matta, very friendly and is willing to answer your question.,but one of the staff member should learn how to talk to patients without talking down to them in front of other patients. Her demeanor was unacceptable. The way she spoke to me through reception desk like i was a little child and insulting me and reminded me that I came up to the window too many times to ask questions, is she for real? to have a attitude like this, she should not be dealing with patients. Right or wrong there should be some type of kindness. I don't know the person name but she sits in front of the reception windows ,she is a tall woman .a person with this type of attitude keeps people away

Dr Hanna is wonderful. She is professional, personable, quite knowledgeable and caring. She listens to my concerns and works to alleviate my eye discomfort. I highly recommend her

My husband is Not happy for the long wait to see Dr Matta. First appointment is okay but on the succeeding appt it takes almost 3 hours and He's always on the rush to check his eyes. The assisting lady is not even pleasant to talk to. And one time a prescription was not filled when the pharmacy called for substitute medicine cause the assistant did not respond.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain everything to me . Your calm presence put me at ease. Feel so grateful that you gave me my vision back ! I feel like a new person !
