Vestal Eye Care

I went for my first appointment at Vestal Eye Care Associates this week and was seen by Dr.Ying. My experience was fantastic! 10/10 The building is easy to locate, on Front Street in Vestal, with ample parking. Inside they have a great selection of frames from various brands, including designer ones (such as Michael Kors) for both men and women. Some are very stylish, some more minimalistic and timeless, they have something to match all tastes and needs. I had my first eye exam a year ago at another chain provider in Vestal and comparing the services to Vestal Eye Care Associates was like night and day- Vestal Eye Care Associates is by far the superior service! The exam I received here was far more thorough and Dr.Ying was very informative, not only in answering my questions about potential contacts but also in providing additional information regarding eye allergies! I suffer from terrible sinus/eye allergies and thus take oral and nasal medication. She noticed I had bumps on my eyes and suggested not only artificial tears but also a type of medication specifically to alleviate my dry, itchy eyes! The last optometrist I saw a year ago never mentioned these bumps nor did the allergist I saw prior to that in October of 2024! I was very impressed and am VERY grateful for her attentiveness and for taking the time to address something I hadn't even been aware of! She was very thorough in explaining which type of artificial tears I should get, giving me some samples to try, as well as some coupons for the allergy medicine and writing which strength would work best for me on the back. The staff at Vestal Eye Care Associates were all tremendously helpful and friendly as well! From Dr.Ying to the receptionist to the man who helped me with my frames, everyone was friendly and welcoming! My experience here was, from start to finish, fantastic! Having just started my journey into caring for my eyes a year ago at 39 years old I can say the care I received here was truly CARE. My appointment wasn't rushed, I was treated with respect, concern, and it was a wonderful feeling and experience.

First time with this business and what a pleasant surprise! The Doctor Ying was super nice, staff friendly, John is the man, everyone was helpful. I felt like a person and not just another number. They are my new go to for my eyes!!!!!

Just realized I never left a review for one of the best doctors I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I am utterly shocked that they don't have a perfect 5 star rating. I injured my eye so badly during the pandemic. 6.5 mm paper cut across most of my cornea while carrying a paper bag out of Walgreens. Dr. Ying said it was on her top 5 "worst eye injuries of all time" list. This injury also has a special place on the "worst pain I've ever felt in my life" list. I went into the office every day for about 2 weeks, including weekends, for her to check the progress of my healing. Dr. Ying really went above and beyond to ensure I healed up okay. I will forever be grateful to her for that!! She was kind, funny and very thorough. She's been practicing over 20 years and it definitely shows! But, she truly cares about helping her patients and that's what makes her such an incredible doctor. (I even found some funny photos to include from this time for dramatic effect!)

This morning my glasses broke completely in half, right at the bridge. I do not have any spares and haven't seen the eye doctor in over 4 years, but I have an appointment coming up. I called in to see what they could do and John informed me my frames were discontinued, but I could come in and wait, in between customers, for him to see if he could find a frame that my lens would fit. I cannot see without my glasses, at all. When I arrived the staff was welcoming and John was available. He took my broken pair that I strategically taped back together using double sided tape. John liked the technique. John was able to find the exact same frame in a different color. He popped out my lens and placed them in the new frames. Charged me only $49 and I was in and out in 20 min. Emergency situation handled with care and speed. My children and wife all come to this facility and we highly recommend it.

My first visit was last year and the front desk wasnt very inviting. The doctor and remainder of the team were quite helpful. Fast forward a year and I get a call and no message was left. I called the number back and the woman on the other line could not have sounded more miserable. She asked my name and said she was calling as I had an appointment friday and wanted to know if I'd be there in the most rude tone. I said i was sorry as i didnt receive a message. I also knew my husband was in around this time last year and asked if he had an appointment as well. She said "I dont know" and continued on with her info on checkin. She then checked and said there is no appointment for him and didnt even offer to schedule one or be the slightest bit helpful. I cannot believe they would keep someone on their team like this who, according to many reviews, is a problem and should be answering phones for the morgue. I am calling back right now to cancel my appointment. Do not recommend!

Dr. Ying and maybe a couple of the assistants are the only saving grace of this place. The doctor herself is excellent and welcoming. However, the front desk staff is beyond rude, as I've experience multiple times now over the phone and in person. Any time I've asked for assistance of any kind I have been treated like a nuisance by reception. Additionally, the male doctor ignorantly told me that it's "a no brainer" after I'd said no to spending hundreds of dollars on glasses while I was getting contacts covered by my insurance, because that choice was not in the budget for me. Dr. Ying herself is excellent, if you can navigate past the poor customer service at the front and make it to the exam room to see her, then it may be a worthwhile visit.

I'd leave no stars if I could. Wife had an appointment today at 9:20 am. Waited an hour and still hadn't seen the doctor. I could understand if the place was very busy but we were the only ones in the lot aside from the employees. Place took a massive nose dive since Dr Meeker left. Beyond unprofessional. We left without even seeing anyone. Let us know if you wanna make this right. If not we'll go elsewhere.

Always excellent service, Appointments are on time and done in a timely manner. All staff are very kind and courteous. I am diabetic and Dr Meeker takes it very serious and does what he can to keep my eyes healthy. Had many years of going to other eye doctors and still having issues until I went to Vestal Eye Care. Within a few months my eyes were getting better. Now I have no problems and can continue to wear contacts.
