Carolina Eye Care

I had the very best experience at Carolina Eye with Dr. Stacy Trego and her assistant Ivy. I had been with my previous provider for 4 years and after a terrible experience and had to change providers. This facility is five star! The doctor was warm, welcoming and very caring as was her assistant. The exam was super thorough and it was very easy to talk to both the doctor and her assistant. As a retinoblastoma survivor, this has been the BEST place I've been for a quick screening. I usually feel like a "lab experiment" and doctors would call others in to see the tumor in my eye. Not at this location! I brought myself, my husband and our two kids. Vision screenings are VERY overwhelming for me but the entire staff worked together to keep my family calm. From entertaining my 18-month old to calming my five-year old for eye drops. They had the PERFECT glasses for my five-year old. We have FINALLY found us a permanent location for our annual visits and eyeglass purchase. Thank you so much for such an amazing visit! I've been to a million eye appointments and this has by far been the best location ever.

I totally enjoyed my visit today. The total staff is amazing a shout out to Maggie, Mindy and Hannah, those ladies really know their stuff. Dr. Motteler is professional and is great at what he does! If you're looking for an eye doctor I highly suggest this location.

They deserve no stars. My husband submitted an online appointment request on Friday as a new patient (which their website says they are taking) and he's yet to be contacted. Today is Wednesday. When he calls, they're closed, even calling within their posted business hours. Absolutely unprofessional.

I recently went back to this location after relocating almost 7 years ago. While it is a 2 hour drive it is well worth the trip, time, and fuel to get there! I had not seen Dr. Motteler in over 10 years and it felt like a family reunion when he walked into the exam room to greet me and my husband. If you need an eye care provider I highly recommend this office! Their staff is professional and so friendly.

Dr. Trego and Hannah were phenomenal. Literally the best eye doctors appointment I've ever had. I'm usually super anxious but they made me feel at ease and heard with my concerns. 100% recommend.

Very nice clean office. The gals at the front desk are so friendly and helpful. Ashley was very nice and thorough during the pretesting. Dr Trego is awesome! They took the time to find out about any and all concerns with my vision, then addressed them. What a great team!

Important Note!! I have been a patient for over 17 years and I have never before experienced what I did today! If you are scheduled to see Dr Matthew Motteler (owner) for an exam and you are accustomed to having a full eye exam which includes the doctor getting close to you with a bright light, having you look up and down, side to side and looking thoroughly at/in your eyes (whether your eyes look good or not) or whether you pay out of pocket for Digital Retinal Imaging that shows all or not he is most definitely not your doctor. He was very nice, however, I was told my eyes looked good and therefore there was no need to sit down and give me full exam. He did however remind me of my health care benefits for glasses and frames if I were interested in purchasing them before this year ends. Hmmmm....I'm fairly certain I will be charged for full exam although he spent less than 5 minutes with me. I very much like the staff, they are very friendly, organized and knowledgeable. Dr. Stacy Trego is the best, she is friendly, knowledgeable and extremely thorough and will give you a complete exam no matter what!! Unfortunately, she was on vacation when I needed an exam prior to end of year!! Side note, Lincolnton Dr Scott Nishek is also fantastic!
