My last appointment was pleasant experience I had an issue with my eye, they are were more than happy to refer me to have it looked at. Overall impression of staff and doctors was positive. I had to reschedule my original appointment and they were able to give me and a few days later and finish my annual checkup. I recommend anyone in the Denver area looking for Eye care I would strongly recommend Carolina Eye care.

I had been seeing Dr. Motteler for a couple of years and genuinely liked him. When I developed a stye on my eyelid, I went back to him because he had always helped me in the past. Unfortunately, this experience went terribly wrong, and I have never been treated so poorly by a doctor and his staff. He prescribed an eye drop, which I used for a week. Then my eye suddenly "blew out," and I woke up with it completely red. I went back to Dr. Motteler, and he told me to continue the eye drops but to use them more frequently. I followed his instructions for a couple more days, and my eye became even worse. Water was pouring out of it constantly. I went back a third time, and again he told me to keep using the drops--this time even more often. I did exactly what he said. The night before leaving for the Bahamas, I boarded the plane, and as we ascended, the pain in my eye became unbearable. It felt like my eye was going to explode. We landed in Miami, and because it was a Saturday, I couldn't reach his office. I contacted a telehealth doctor, who immediately told me to stop the eye drops. He explained that the stye had already gone away days earlier and that I was having an allergic reaction to the medication. I later learned that I had actually suffered a small stroke in my eye because of the drops. When I arrived at my hotel in the Bahamas, I called Dr. Motteler's office. He wouldn't speak to me. The receptionist told me the doctor said to continue using the drops. I couldn't believe it. What kind of doctor ignores a patient in crisis and repeats advice that was clearly harming me? I called back and asked to speak with the manager. She apologized, but the damage--physically and emotionally--was already done. After returning home, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Instead of addressing what happened, Dr. Motteler responded by sending me a letter banning me from his office. Honestly, I was shocked he thought I would ever return to a doctor who had been so negligent in the first place.
