Dr. Brandon C. Whiteside, MD

I went in for a recommendation regarding an elevator nerve issue in my eye. I first saw Dr. Whiteside, and it was difficult to get any information from him. He said he did not see anything and told me to see his wife. When I saw her, she was aggressive, rude, and not considerate. She did not explain anything and just put me in a room for a picture, then left. My significant other and I had to track her down for answers, and the assistant eventually told us everything looked okay. This was unprofessional and felt like they were trying to get paid twice. I do not recommend this place.

My father came in and got both of his eyes done for cataract surgery over the course of a few months. Dr Whiteside is the kindest doctor I've had the pleasure to work with my dad. After each surgery he personally called my dad to ask how he was doing. I've never had a doctor do that, ever. They even sent us a Christmas card (not sure if it was them, or the Novant hospital, but either way). All their office staff is kind and patient with my dad. Would highly recommend Dr whiteside.

I've always had a good experience at this office - as the staff is friendly, consistent (low turnover) and Dr. Whiteside is knowledgeable...providing good care. You may wait a few minutes - as schedules flow, but I am normally seen within 15-20 minutes of my appointment and given his complete attention...including him walking me to the front desk. Go see them!

Outstanding! Dr. Whiteside is so thorough and kind. I have a very complicated case, and he fully explained all my options. I left feeling confident about my next steps and very hopeful about the prospects of resolving my issues. His staff was accommodating and caring! I live on the other side of town and drove an hour to see them, and I am glad I did. They are great!

I have been a patient of Dr. Brandon Whiteside's for several years. As many other reviewers have shared, it is true that sometimes the wait to ultimately see the doctor can be long. I promise you, they don't want patients to wait very long either. It's just an unfortunate consequence of some patient's needs take longer than others, and that is very difficult to account for in the scheduling process. I was treated so nicely and carefully this week (2 separate visits) for an inflammation of my cornea that I just HAD to come write a review. I had come to the practice for an eyeglasses issue - and special shout out to Misty in the optical center - she rocks!!!!! - and I was told that I needed to see the doctor for my eye because it was so red and teary. I have no vision insurance currently, but the office worked with me to my great satisfaction. Dr. Whiteside diagnosed my issue, prescribed the appropriate medication (two different eye drops), saw me for the follow-up and even helped me with a sample for my contact solution. Again, excellent service deserves recognition and I want to thank Dr. Brandon Whiteside, Misty in the optical center, and the entire business office staff for working with me to come to a financially feasible solution to my painful eye problem. I am all better and I hope this practice continues to work to improve their customer satisfaction scores because I know they want what is best for their patients.

I have seen Dr Whiteside for 2 annual exams and had a great experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, as is Dr. Whiteside. I did not experience any wait for my scheduled appointments. They have a large selection of frames, and I just ordered a new pair of glasses. The price was comparable to other optical stores.

I saw Dr Whiteside about 4 times in 2021. I was only 28 at the time, and was dealing with very dry eyes to the point where they were bloodshot and itchy. I have been a contacts-wearer since 2008. Dr Whiteside told me repeatedly that I just needed to get lasik eye surgery and that would fix all my issues. I told him the first time he recommended it that I could not afford it, but he kept repeating this recommendation every time I came in even though I clearly couldn't afford it. He never gave me any actual solutions and just recommended surgery and told me how bad my eyes looked. I was talking with my sister in law about my issues and she suggested I try wearing daily contacts instead of the 2-weeks pairs I had been wearing for years. I switched to daily's and I have not had one issue with my eyes since. Not only did Dr Whiteside's recommendations seem lazy to me at the time, he also came across rude and lacked bedside manners. Just a bad experience all around. Needless to say, I haven't been back to Dr Whiteside's since and will not be back.

My whole family has come here for years, since I was still a child in school. I have been a patient here as long as I can remember. Before I say anything else, Dr. Whiteside is a great guy and I think he is a great doctor. However, after years of eyecare, I will not be coming back. I have had an astigmatism since 8th grade when I started wearing corrective lenses. On my last visit (9/13) I arrived early for my appointment and was taken back for my annual eye exam on time. Once the lady did my eye exam, she left the room and I sat there for 45 MINUTES before I was seen by the doctor. (That's longer than the entire appointment should take.) This was the third year in a row that I had to wait such a long time to be seen. The doctor was in the room for about 5-10 minutes and my appointment was complete. I ordered my contacts, checked out, and left. After I left, I attempted to order glasses and realized I was never given a prescription. I called to have it sent to me and was sent the contacts prescription, when I specifically told her I needed to order glasses. After 3 attempts, I finally got my glasses prescription and then I noticed there were no numbers for my astigmatism. So I called back a FOURTH time, and was put on the phone with the most unpleasant woman, Sandy. She proceeded to tell me to "listen, honey" and cut me off multiple times, very impatiently telling me that I do not have an astigmatism. So...the astigmatism I have had for over a decade has magically disappeared??? I finally gave up trying to get an answer on that and requested my PD number so I could order my glasses. (Which they have because I have ordered multiple pairs of glasses from them over the years) she said she couldn't give me that information and that the glasses dept would have to get that to me and she'd let them know to call me. Well, surprise it's been a week and not a peep from the glasses dept or anyone else in the office. Between the absurdly long wait time, incompetent receptionist who couldn't tell the difference between contacts and spectacles prescriptions, and the extraordinarily condescending nurse Sandy, I will no longer be visiting this doctor's office.
