Very friendly and helpful staff. The office has a welcoming atmosphere. They also have the best eye glasses selection ...Hands down!! I'm pleased with the Tom Ford frames I picked out. Dr. Handshumacher is extremely knowledgeable and the upgraded technology is impressive. I've referred family and friends and they to, have had good experiences. Definitely the best optometrist experience.

EDIT: The response to me given by whoever is in charge of the PR for this facility is a bold-faced lie, as I still have the prescription paper printed on their formatted pseido letterhead. Family Eye Care Center, 7500 Ramble Way. Look for a Miranda for the actual birth name. I am extremely disappointed in the response from you all. You accepted Medicaid last year, and having changed this is not a problem you have the right to punish prior Medicaid patients for. Had an exam last June, as in June of 2025, for new glasses. The exam itself was pretty good other than the really persistent attempts to push some expensive new-age lens until I told them I am jobless and on Medicaid. Glasses got ordered, sent off, etc. I haven't heard back from them since. Ghosted. Zero information. My depth perception is screwed up because I've been wearing out-of-date glasses for years, to the point I wouldn't be surprised if my prescription had worsened even since June from eye strain. I've been dealing with regular severe migraines from both this and other medical problems (if it starts behind the eyes, it's due to the eye strain). It has been eight months with no contact from this place. Not even a call about if there's been an issue getting them manufactured or shipped. I am beyond furious and I will be making a call tomorrow (2/16/26) and raising Cain about it. Letting people slip through the cracks like this, especially when it comes to people on Medicaid due to poverty, is unacceptable. Shame on you.

I cannot say enough about the excellent care I have received by Dr. Handschumacher and his staff. Great visit today! It was quick, thorough, and informative. I also received great care in selecting some prescription sunglasses. Appreciate the professional and personal care of everyone. It was a great experience!

I thoroughly enjoyed my most professional eye appointment with Family EyeCare Center, Raleigh, NC. I've never had my eyes imagined in such a profound manner. The Assistant and Doctor were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with explaining every detail of my eye exam. They were very thorough and patient. The front desk Assistants were very professional, helpful and reliable. Hat's off to the entire Family EyeCare Center Staff. I highly recommend their service. Dezel Richardson

2/3/26 I see someone responded to my post so let's clear this up because everyone always tries to cover their asses once you make a complaint. I have vision insurance which pays whatever it does and that is fine. However I have been to your office before several times and never had to pay any additional fee. This fee is BECAUSE YOU AS THE PROVIDER want to do it. You didn't give me a choice as to whether I wanted this additional service or not. That is where the problem is. You DO NOT get to tell me I MUST pay for additional services that are not MANDATORY . You are simply trying to make an extra 50 bucks off every visit. If you want to offer this service as an extra and give ppl the option to pay it then that is fine. I will not go to any doctor, eye or otherwise who tells me oh and by the way you have to pay 50 extra bc the provider thinks this is a good test. NOPE. Which is exactly what I was told. Literally I was told you insurance pays for everything but our provider wants everyone to have an extra test that it doesn't cover which you will have to pay 50 more for. Um excuse me? I didn't ask for that. So instead of just my routine exam you lost a patient trying to be greedy. Please do not try to make it seem like you are in the right here because you are not. You are forcing services on ppl that they don't need for routine eye exams. Not once have I been here and had this TEST done but all of a sudden it's needed. Come on...... just give me my regular damn visit without any bells and whistles. Great you have some new technology you want to play with, play with it on ppl who want to pay extra for it I've been here a few times over the years but just like everything is else in the world these doctors think they can just start charging us for things even if we don't want it. I simply needed new lenses bc I took mine with me to the gym and they got messed up. It's literally been 12 1/2 months since my last visit but I was going to make an appointment anyway to see if my eyes had changed any: After I had made the appointment the lady or gentleman said "oh I just want to let you know you have to get an additional test the provider wants you to have and that's $50 on top of your deductible " uhm listen to what you just said. You want me to pay for something THE PROVIDER wants to do. I Bet they do want to charge everyone $50 extra but it should be a choice not a you have to do this bc the provider wants extra money. I just requested my prescription and will order it online. So much for being able to build local relationships bc everyone is so money hungry it's not enough to see someone for what their insurance will cover. You now have to try to squeeze more out for a test that is NOT necessary for a routine eye exam. I will Be moving myself, wife and kids to another company that doesn't force services on you.ppl can barely afford to buy groceries and you want to add some extra stuff is wild.

Great care and first class service from everyone there. I was especially impressed with the gal who helped me choose my new frames. She kept coming and going to get new choices until she found the perfect pair.

The staff is friendly, attentive and efficient. Whenever I have an appointment, I always feel well taken care of. Dr Handschumacher is a very patient and knowledgeable doctor and I fully trust his expertise.

I have been going to Family Eyecare for several years and have always received the best service. Everyone is welcoming and professional, the environment is clean and comfortable, and Dr. Handshumacher is the best. They have great deals on their frames with an awesome selection. Would recommend going for anything from an annual eye exam or getting a new prescription.
