had such a great experience at Village Eye Care! Dr. Bateman was professional, thorough, and took the time to explain everything clearly, which made me feel very comfortable. The entire appointment was smooth and easy. I also want to give a special shoutout to Jackie at the front desk -- she was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful from the moment I walked in. It really set the tone for a positive visit. Highly recommend this office!

On February 5, 2026, at approximately 11:27 a.m., I contacted this establishment to inquire whether the office accepted patients diagnosed with keratoconus who require hard contact lenses. I initially spoke with a receptionist who indicated she was unsure and transferred me to an optometrist. Unfortunately, I did not obtain his name. During the conversation, the optometrist stated that he had only seen keratoconus "once," and further remarked that this was because "the zip codes of the patients he sees are generally healthy." Keratoconus is a well-documented, progressive eye disorder in which the cornea thins and bulges into a cone shape, resulting in distorted vision and significant astigmatism. It typically begins in adolescence or early adulthood and progresses over many years before stabilizing. The optometrist's statement was factually inaccurate and implied a socioeconomic or geographic bias regarding patient health, which I found to be unprofessional and inappropriate for a healthcare provider. Healthcare professionals are expected to communicate respectfully and without bias. The comment made during this call was dismissive of a legitimate medical condition and should raise concerns about the quality of care and professionalism patients may encounter at this practice.

Ending up looking for a new eye doctor when my previous doctor's practice was purchased by a large chain. I found Dr. Bateman and have been very pleased with the service. It's easy to schedule an appointment quickly. He takes his time and is very friendly and helpful.

I went to the Village Eye Care because I was having pain behind my eyes and other sorts. Once arrived, the front desk staff was very pleasant. However, the Dr. himself had a very demeaning dissposition. The experience was rushed and I felt like he rarely cared about my concerns as a "millennial." When I was asked questions such as, "Does your vision hurt in the sun light?" I responded, "I'm not sure I really don't notice." He then responds in a snarky tone "Yeah you would know!" This happened for two of my responses - a cut off mid sentence. Once the appointment was over it seem like he was persistent in making purchase glasses the day of. I'm not sure if he was trying to reach a quota but it definitely felt like it. He then discussed my payment and insurance with the receptionist in front of me as if I was not there. I have never experienced this with any other doctor. Lastly, in leaving I told him it was nice to meet him - he shakes my hands and walks away. To then go down the hall and discuss the situation of why I'm not purchasing glasses the day of out loud. Overall, this was a horrible experience for me and I will not return. If you do not want a rush pressured experience I do not recommend this location.

Very rushed and impatient. My mother is elderly (84), has a language barrier, and is hard of hearing. I stayed with her during the visit. The doctor wouldn't even wait for her to answer before continuously flipping the lenses. Even I noticed at some point, that she was just saying any answer as he seemed so pressed. Afterwards, he was pushing for surgery and to refer us to a specialist. I decided to go elsewhere for a second opinion at Duke. What a difference in service, patience, and care! Lastly, despite having Medicare, they charged her for the full visit which we paid at that time. Since then I've discovered they also billed Medicare and were reimbursed additional monies.
