Went today for my first appointment there (needing a second opinion based on a negative experience with Target Optical), and this is the friendliest staff you'll ever meet. Very professional, very good on communication and sticking to timely appointments, and just a great experience from start to finish. Thank you!

Incompetent medical billing. I went to this office almost two months ago for a yearly check-up (nothing special). I made the mistake of paying their bill at the front desk following my appointment (I normally have copays, and am very pregnant at this point, so I just wanted to handle the bill before I became too busy). When I later took the itemized, coded receipt they gave me and sent it to my insurance/FSA for reimbursement, they informed me that the office had improperly billed me for procedures covered under my EOB. Thus began the next two months of trying to rectify the situation with their medical biller, who appears to be either too busy to do their job, or just improperly trained. When I could get a hold of this person, she would promise to call my back with a details around a new receipt (one that would correctly bill the procedures they claim were outside of my insurance coverage), but this call has yet to happen. By now, I am politely asking to be refunded, since the office seems to be incapable of explaining their reason for charging me, but that's obviously been met with silence. Finally, after two months of this back and forth, I'm no longer actually able to get a hold of their medical biller. I've only been able to leave messages at the front desk and, despite my professionalism and cordialness around the issue, I have been denied the same from this office. For this reason, I've decided to cut my loses and am just making it a point to warn others of this office's problems. I will also be taking my business elsewhere. Thankfully I'm not on a fixed income, so I can take the undo financial burden. But for those that are on fixed incomes, especially the retired, be warned. Medical billing issues are a plague already in this country, and having to deal with incompetent billers is just additional insult to injury. Regardless of your financial wellbeing, just be cautious with this office, and make sure you demand they bill you after, in mail, and wait for your corresponding insurance EOB to process before paying.

I recently injured my eye. Dr. Jennifer Engle was able to see me within an hour of me calling for an appointment. She was very kind, patient and helpful, providing excellent care for my condition. I highly recommend her and her practice!!

Recently had an eye emergency and Dr. Engle responded to his page almost immediately. He opened his office and took the time to treat the injury and work with the pharmacist afterward. My wife and I have been going there for nearly five years and this speed and dedication, while a bit unexpected, was really not a surprise. We love Berea because it is truly a "community" and Daniels and Engle are an important part of that both in the office and out. I have bought frames, and my wife has bought contacts, at other sources but I would not trust anyone else with my vision and overall eye health!
