Melissa, one of the workers at the Costco Optical on Central Avenue ,Toledo, made my vision check up effortless. She was very welcoming and helpful in setting up my appointment. She went out of her way in filing my vision insurance claims. Melissa is one of the main reasons I use Costco Optical.
I was told to return in two weeks. Now that I returned they have no availability because I did not schedule an appointment through their website.
I asked if I needed to do so and I was told no just show up. I took a $60 uber just to get told get lost.
You guys suck.
I have been visiting this location for my eye exams and the Costco Vision center for about 4-5 years now I believe. Had an appointment today and both the staff and OD were great. I always have a good experience here. At the Costco Vision center (which is separate from Vision Care) I was helped by Daniel, who is also great with getting my new glasses ordered. Overall this is one of the only doctors appointments I always enjoy going to cause I've never had a bad experience here.
The only reason I'm giving this two stars is because I had a good experience with Patrick Henry, OD. He was great and explained everything very thoroughly. However, the office staff were highly unprofessional. I was the last appointment of the day and arrived on time. There was a staff member at the door, peeking out, who rolled her eyes when I walked in. She then loudly announced that she was leaving to the two remaining office workers. No greeting or hello was given to me. When I came out after my appointment, the lights were turned off and staff were sitting in the dark. I fumbled to see to review my paperwork and get my card from my purse. When I asked if we could turn the lights on for a minute, I was told no and they turn them off so no one else comes in - this is is not only rude to me, but it is a terrible safety hazard! Village Vision Care should take this liability seriously and implement a policy change regarding the lighting. The whole process was hurried and I was made to feel like a bother. The paperwork I was given afterward was shoved at me and was not clear. When I question this, the OD himself had to walk out of his office and clarify. I then asked the desk staff if I could schedule another appointment and was told no and that I needed to call the office tomorrow to do that. Even though I was standing right there at the time. Absolutely deplorable customer service. I've been getting eye exams here every year for over 12 years and will not be back based on the way that I was treated today.
My first appointment was last week. I had OD Patrick Henry. He was great, gave me great detail and didnt make me feel rushed.
I paid $120 to get a glasses and contact prescription. Somewhere along the line my trial pair of contacts were not ordered, so I am awaiting a call back to see what they do to rectify the issue. I will update my rating once there is a solution. Update- problem solved. I got 2 pairs of trials and they came within a week. Not sure who dropped the ball, either village or costco... but I understand mistakes happen. Updated my rating.
I had a terrible experience with Village Vision Care. To begin, they are extremely difficult to get a hold of. I have never called the office number and had the experience of someone answering. I would either leave a message which were only returned half the time or I would call the glasses/contact department and have them put me through to someone. This should've been a red flag that rest of this service experience would be terrible but I scheduled an appointment anyway. The doctor was very subpar. She did not answer my questions and she gave me misinformation about ordering my contacts, all in the 7 minutes my appointment lasted. The office did not bill my insurance correctly which is still causing me problems 5 months later AND now the insurance company needs a copy of my bill and no one can get a hold of the office. The service sucks. I would not recommend this office to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and go see a doctor elsewhere. Costco is great but having this office in their stores should embarrass them.
I haven't had an eye appointment in about 5 years, so I was nervous going to an appointment, because I totally forgot what to expect. Everyone was super friendly, kind, and you could tell they cared about you as a person. You weren't just another patient. They even helped me estimate how much my glasses would cost with insurance, but didn't pressure me to buy right away. They printed out the information for me to keep too! Their glasses are very reasonably priced, as well. Anywhere from $30-200, so you can find something that's priced right for you. I will DEFINITELY be heading back to this place in the future - and it's awesome that's it's inside Costco (because I already love Costco!)! 10/10 would recommend!
I've been trying to get ahold of someone for days upon days to make and appointment. First tried calling several times. No answer. Called the glasses counter, they transferred me, still could not get an answer. Then I went online and it said to fill out the online appointment request, which I did. The form said someone would be in touch within one business day. Crickets. Waited 4 days. No call. Filled out the form again. Still nothing. Some would ask, why bother at this point. I was determined to see how this whole thing would play out. I wanted to know if it was even possible to make an appointment. Do you have to be a member of a secret club to get in? Finally, several days later, I get a call from some weird number I didn't recognize so I didn't answer. Of course it was Village Eye people. They left me a message saying I could text the number to make an appointment. Finally, I thought to myself, it's going to happen. I text back saying I would like to schedule. They responded wanting to know what time of day. I responded with a big window of time, saying any weekday. What was their response you ask? Nothing. Literally, they did not respond. At all. It was like they knew how hard I was trying and were just teasing me. Surely you are thinking I gave up at this point. Not a chance. I am in too deep at this point. Now it's a challenge. I NEED to know if I am being intentionally ghosted by the Village Eye people. So, I continue to text the number over the course of the next couple days, never expecting a response, but like I said I am all-in at this point. Low and behold, after a few days someone responded via text. They apologized and blamed it on their "system." Now, to be honest a small part of me was actually disappointed bc this journey I had been on for days (maybe even weeks at this point) seemed to be over. The challenge was coming to an end. Undoubtably an appointment was going to get booked. It was bittersweet. They text me asking what date and time I would like to book and I said "any day next week around 2:30pm?" I stared at my phone anxiously waiting for a confirmation. Finally, their response popped up on my phone..."Unfortunately I am fully booked." I stared in disbelief. Could that be the knockout punch? Should I just pick myself up off the canvas and live to see another eye doctor? Not a chance. When I get knocked down, I get back up. I (somewhat desperately) reply "any other times available next week? If not, how about the following week?" I held my breath waiting for their reply..............That was at 3:12pm EST. It is now 11:35pm and I am still staring at my phone. Waiting (I did start to breath though). To be continued...
