Despite the positive ratings, my experience at this office and with Dr. Nelson has been consistently poor. After being referred by our primary doctor, I was disappointed to find the care rushed and dismissive. Consultations often last less than five minutes, leaving no room for a thorough discussion. The communication and billing policies are particularly frustrating. When I called with a legitimate concern regarding a new treatment plan, I was told I had to pay for a second full appointment just 48 hours later rather than receiving a brief clarification. There is a total barrier between the doctor and the patient; the front desk lacks the clinical knowledge to assist, yet you are blocked from speaking with the provider. As other reviewers have noted, it is disheartening to see a provider show so little concern for patients while allowing such a disconnect at the front desk. Expect to pay multiple co-pays in a single week just to get basic answers.

We have been patients of Dr Nelson since my daughter was 6 months old. He corrected strabismus/eye muscle surgery. Now at almost 20 years old, we are still his patients and still are thankful for all his years of service to us.

Dr. Nelson is a very good doctor that we have been seeing for about 10 years. However, the front end receptionist is horrible and today was our last visit because of her. The African woman is extremely disrespectful to the patients and talks to people like they are garbage. She constantly argues despite being constantly wrong. I'm a health care professional and know how billing works, however, she told me in front of the doctor "I am not talking to you, I am talking to the doctor" shutting me up. What kind of customer service is this? Billing department is a nightmare. Last time they wanted to charge me $50 for doctor handing me an eyeglasses prescription claiming that this service is not covered under my plan, despite me paying a copay. What do you know? Insurance called them and told them to charge them and it was fully covered. It only took multiple phone calls to everyone and the insurance company complained that they had a hard time getting a hold of the billing personnel. Honestly, maybe some other locations where this doctor works are better, but this one I would avoid and save yourself a headache. If the office can't take control of their staff despite multiple online complains, it just shows how much they care about their customers and customer service.

Rude front of the house and Dr. Nelson's brevity did not inspire me with confidence. My son was diagnosed with a common eye infection that needed to be treated with an antibiotic. "Okay, I said. Can you call in a prescription for that so we can start treatment?" "No you will have to go see your primary doctor to get a script." "You're an MD," I said. "Can't you call it in?" "No, I only give out aspirin." Glean what you want from that encounter, but I was nothing short of dissatisfied. Moving on from this practice.

Dr. Nelson is the best! He operated on my son at age two and fixed his strabismus, then again 30 years later (to fix severe double vision after brain cancer diagnosis). (And he also treated all 3 kids through the years as their pediatric ophthalmologist - they all loved him). A caring physician and excellent surgeon - We are forever grateful for you, Dr. Nelson!

Let me first start off by saying I am a healthcare professional and I am very familiar with providing excellent patient service. I was referred to this office by my son's Primary Care Doctor so this is the only reason we went to this place. This was the first time my son ever went to an eye Doctor, and we had a terrible experience unfortunately. As soon as we arrived to the office the front desk receptionist was no where to be found. When she did finally arrive she was very rude to everyone. I have no idea what the reason was but she did not seem happy to be at work. She was snippy from start to finish, she even snapped and said my son need to sit down in a very rude tone. My son was super excited to have his eyes check but also very nervous. Once my son was called back to see the Doctor he went in alone, which was fine. So they put drops in my sons eyes and had him wait. While waiting my son told me he was nervous and didn't think he did a good job. I asked what images the Doctor showed him and he easily named them all. When the Doctor called my son's name again I told him what my son said to me, and I asked if we can repeat the that part of the exam again and I guess I offended him because after that he was short with me. I left and told myself we will not return. I had a bad experience as soon as I walked in until the time I left. The visit felt rushed and the staff was in a bad mood. I will find another eye Doctor and office because the customer service here is horrible.

Dr. NELSON operated on my eye and saved my vision. He is a caring, world-class expert in the field of optomology and I quite honestly believe he is the best in the world at what he does. Thank you Dr. Nelson!

He has been amazing with my 4 year old son. My son had surgery today and is in no pain and is happy as can be. I'm so happy he is my sons eye doctor.
