America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

I recently had a wonderful visit at America's best In Chambersburg. The receptionist Lacey that works at the front desk was a pleasure to deal with from booking the appointment to her even doing a follow up reminder call the day before. The rest of the staff was very friendly and professional as well. When my glasses arrived Lacey followed up with me and let me know and when I told her that I was out of town they mailed my glasses down to where I was at witch I found to be most helpful. Thanks again America's best! See you when it is time for the next visit!

The best! Sam was amazing.. He was very personable, informative and kind. He was patient with my daughter and I, and seen that we got the best deals and were happy with our frames. He also went out of his way to make sure our experience was smooth and pleasant from beginning to end, even when my daughter was anxious about getting her eyes checked. We both got great glasses, and left out of the office smiling!

I did not have a good experience. Staff is pushy. Speaking to one employee and another very crass woman with a nose-ring kept yelling from across the store her "suggestions" for the employee to show us from. If this was a training situation she should have got up, came over, and been part of the conversation. If not training, she should have minded her own business and not barked at us the whole time we're trying to give someone else our attention. During checkout the girl was clueless about what the insurance would cover and had to keep asking someone how to operate the computer. Again, no one actually came over to help this employee, even though we were the only customers. At this point one of the owners (an Indian couple) kep talking to us while the girl was checking us out. We couldn't fully understand everything she said and we were trying to pay attention to the checkout process, the options we were choosing, etc. Perhaps this was on purpose because we later found we were charged for "upgrades" I told them I didn't want. Brought glasses back to have lenses adjusted because they weren't right and to remove the upgrades I never agreed to. Even though I paid by credit card they gave me a cash refund, which felt very shady. Of course I then I get a bill from AB corporate and the bill shows all the original items still being charged for. Seems pretty clear that the store was still trying to charge my insurance for the more expensive options and gave me a cash refund so they didn't have to alter the order. If my insurance would have paid the full amount I never would have known. Wonder how often this happens? Check your bill and insurance claim to see what they are ACTUALLY charging you!

The Chambersburg store was absolutely amazing, I brought all 3 of my kids in, for their first official eye exam, not only did they have so much patience while explaining the whole process but also explained it on a kids level. Carolyn was our sales lady and she worked with the kids to help pick their glasses out. Never did I feel pushed into "upgrading" any of our options, she actually looked at both insurance coverages and choose the one that would best cover our visit. I was honestly hesitant about going for a virtual eye exam, but I ran into someone who told me that they had a great experience. I decided to give it a try and I am glad that I did. The entire process was smooth and efficient. Sam and his team; Carolyn and Astrid, who were there today when I went were professional, kind and informative. Also there is a great eyeglass selection!

My husband got glasses here recently. We were surprised at how easy they made it, they even mailed the glasses to us since they were arriving while we were away on an extended trip. Best prices too. Lacey was very helpful and informative at the front desk.

Edit to add: Sam has been wonderful in correcting everything that went wrong in our initial visit. He has addressed every issue and corrected to a point that we will continue to be back to this establishment and he has shown they only allow respect and understanding among employees and value professionalism. THANK YOU SAM! For everything. My husband and I visited this location today and the experience was extremely unprofessional from start to finish. When my husband was taken back for his eye exam, the female employee performing it behaved in a way that made him uncomfortable -- excessive giggling, silliness, and what felt like inappropriate flirting during a medical appointment. It was unprofessional and awkward. While that was happening, I was selecting frames I genuinely liked. The assistant manager, Minaxi, who claimed to be acting manager while James is out of town, told me the frames I chose were "so cheap" and insisted I look at designer frames because my insurance "covers XYZ." She physically walked me over to them despite me already having made my selection. This felt pushy and judgmental. During my own exam, another employee laughed and commented about my husband being color blind, saying he "only got one of the numbers right," which felt unnecessary and rude. She also appeared confused during the testing and had to redo parts of my exam multiple times. At checkout, things became worse. Minaxi mocked my husband's frame choice, laughing and asking, "Are you sure you want those?" followed by saying they were glasses "normally for 50, 60, 70 year olds." She then pushed add-ons he clearly declined -- and despite him saying no, charged him for scratch-resistant lenses anyway. When I checked out, she again criticized my frame choice, saying "You like plastic?" and told me I should choose metal frames because they would "actually look nice" on my face. When I questioned an unexpected $80 charge, she claimed it was for scratch-resistant lenses not covered by insurance -- which I never agreed to. That's when we realized she had charged my husband for the same add-on he declined. When we questioned this, Minaxi became defensive, and another employee -- a blonde woman with a nose ring at the front desk -- loudly inserted herself into the situation from across the store, raising her voice and claiming Minaxi was "just giving advice." This escalation was unnecessary and incredibly rude. This visit crossed the line from poor customer service into disrespect, judgment, and questionable billing practices. We will be escalating this issue and would strongly caution others to carefully review their charges and expect professionalism -- which we did not.

I had a great experience getting my exam here. Sam, the manager, was extremely helpful and took the time to help me find the perfect glasses for me. He was patient, knowledgeable, and made the whole process easy and stress-free. I really appreciated the excellent customer service and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for quality care and great service.
