Ludwick Eye Center

My husband is an established patient at this practice where he had cataract surgery in 2024. Recently, my husband had an eye emergency on a weekend. His vision became suddenly, significantly impaired. He went to the ER on Saturday night then called Ludwick's emergency number the next day. An ophthalmologist returned his call shortly thereafter and told him he could be seen the next day. The next morning, my husband hadn't yet heard from Ludwick (it was still only between 7:15 and 7:30am), but he decided to stop there on his way to work. My husband spoke to a receptionist named Carla, explaining that he spoke to an ophthalmologist the day before. Her response was "We don't do that kind of thing here." Desperate for help, my husband drove immediately to Cumberland Valley Retinal Specialists, where - despite them being fully booked - he was seen immediately and was diagnosed quickly with two retinal tears. The ophthalmologist there performed emergency laser surgery to repair the tears, and my husband left there 2 hours after walking in. Interestingly, my husband had mentioned Carla at Ludwick to me in the past when he'd attended previous appointments. We also know someone who works at Ludwick and mentioned to this person once that there is a particularly rude receptionist there. The other employee immediately said, "Oh, it must be Carla." How terribly shameful of Ludwick to continue allowing such a reprehensible employee to treat patients so poorly and to represent Ludwick so unprofessionally.

My father had an appointment at the beginning of the year in February. He wanted to schedule his next appointment that day. They told him he couldn't and that THEY would call him. They never did, he had to call them after his appointment time came past due. He was put on a waitlist because how long the wait was. He eventually got an appointment for November 19th. They proceeded to cancel that appointment and once again whomever was on the phone with him said THEY would call him. Never did. He called again for finally have appointment in September of 2026!! Haven't put on a wait list for an earlier appointment, instead now he has to periodically call in to see if a sooner appointment is available. Absolutely ridiculous... how can they tell him back in February they couldn't schedule an appointment for him but schedule the whole way out to September next year???

Scheduling is difficult. Someone added an appointment for me at 7:55 am which I would never have made for myself. It took me two phone calls to cancel this appointment that I never made.

I took my father for a yearly exam today. He is 92 years old and has Parkinson's disease. He walks with a walker. I go to every appointment with him. I cannot believe the change in this office for the NEGATIVE within the period of a year. His doctor is Dr. Grove. He is a wonderful Christian man. That did not change. But for the 10 minutes that we were with him, it really was not worth the way we were treated by the other office staff. I believe sensitivity training is in order for how to speak to an elderly patient. The first technician was RUDE. When she spoke to my father there was no kindness. She was totally doing her job and that was it. When she attempted one test, she was so incompetent that she had to get 2 other employees to help her. Maybe if she would have used better directional words my dad could have understood the task. Instead, she rudely sighed, said "nope" out loud and went to get help. When the trio came back, I said "let's remember he's 92 and he has Parkinson's ". At that point, nurse #1 told me I could have a seat in the waiting area. I said "absolutely not. I'm staying right here". So, after that, I was targeted as the "B" and my father's treatment went further downhill. The girl who did his refraction never made eye contact with me and said not one word of encouragement or kindness to my father. I'm sure nurse #1 told her how terrible I was. I left this review in the hopes that anyone having an elderly parent/relative going to LEC for an appointment goes with them to protect them from the generation of workers who are there now. They are RUDE and do not care for the elderly. DO NOT GO HERE!

Not exactly happy about the scheduling operation. My wife and I had appointments late January or early February on our calendars for visits to the Chambersburg office. When . I heard nothing from them as usually the case I went and checked and they said they had no record and our anointments were for today. Then last week or maybe before were called , and they said my wife's appointment was cancelled and the visit was rescheduled. They said nothing about mine which we scheduled at the same time. Early this week I confirmed the visit today at the Waynesboro office via the website, and all was accepted. I got there today and a very rude woman asked what I wanted and I told her I had an appointment and she lied right to my face and said she called everyone.

I have had the most amazing experience with Dr. K. and his staff in keeping my eye in shape. If it wasn't for he and his staff my eye would have a few problems and I would probably have to stop driving! My issue is with their Billing Dept. The timeliness of receiving their concerns about my insurance is quite lacking. There was an issue with a March billing that was not resolved until a short time ago. That is not acceptable and I obviously will need to come up with a better system on my end because I definitely to not want to stop coming to Dr. K.

Had comprehensive exam for blurred vision. Didn't find anything wrong despite still having blurred vision. Good news though, I was cleared to drive! Probably still better a driver than most impatient drivers in Chambersburg......even with the blurred vision.

Went to take my husband for one eye to be repaired. Got there receptionist said for two eyes. We questioned it in a manner of shock. We waited over 40 minutes for the doctor to come out for clarification. He accused us of harassing his staff! Two women were in the waiting room. One heard everything and verified we were not rude just questioning why we were not informed both eyes would be operated on today. Dr Kropnick pretty much threw us out. All I can say is WOW! The young lady at reception lied and the doctor was there for insurance money.
