Had an appointment scheduled, for my 88 year old mother, for January 2026 that was made in June 2025. They called me around Oct or Nov 2025 to reschedule her January appt. to June 2026. They called again in March to reschedule the June appt. to Dec 29, 2026 because the dr will be out on maternity leave. The first phone call to make our initial appt was in June 2025, she is now scheduled out to Dec 2026, that's a year and half later. Because of their schedule not ours. Two times now! That's unacceptable. They have no waiting list for if they get any cancelations. I found a doctor in Lancaster. This office returned my call the same day and can see her in June. Thank God I didn't take her to the Hershey eye dr, they obviously do not care about the patients and seem unorganized.
My Husband and I had a horrendous experience here. It took three and a half months of calling every single day to schedule a surgery that was needed. We were told the surgery coordinator would call us dozens of messages were sent to Olga so she could call and schedule us and she never did. I called Olga for months trying to get ahold of her to make the appointment.
Fast forward to the post op of the surgery.
They ask you to come back the next day. Our appointment was at 8AM. I arrive to this appointment at 7:50 AM and checked in. I was told our Doctor, Pantanelli was on the phone and would see us soon. After two hours of waiting in the waiting room I finally ask the receptionist when we will be seen and we are informed that the doctor is with the next patient. They skipped seeing us and continues with the next patient because Dr. Pantanelli was on the phone. This is the most unprofessional and disorganized office I have been to. They obviously have no respect of anyone else's health and time. They want to do a second surgery on my husband and say he's a great candidate but after this experience we will be looking at other practices.. I would never waste my time here again after such poor service and overall care.
Dr Neely is wonderful. I am so grateful for the care l've received from her over the past 6 years. She's helped me through some pretty scary eye issues, when no one else could, and she always figures it out! She is so kind and caring and goes above and beyond every time I see her. I've had many doctors at Pennstate and no one comes close to the care I receive with Dr. Neely.
The world needs more doctors like her - she's truly extraordinary.
Very unpleasant experience scheduling my appointment. I need an optometrist who can perform a refraction and a fitting for custom scleral lenses for keratoconus. I attempted to explain this to the receptionist? scheduler? who was more concerned with being a sassy miss thang and cutting me off every chance he got. He assured me they do this all the time and that once they receive my referral, I will hear back with an appointment time, which I did. Well, several months later, the day before the appointment finally arrived, I called to ask a question about where this is located (I live nowhere near Hershey and am only mildly familiar with the area), the (much nicer) person I spoke to called me back after we hung up and told me that the appointment was scheduled incorrectly (if he had listened to me in the first place it wouldn't have been!), and that I will now have to wait until February of 2026, all the while wearing an ill-fitting emergency back-up scleral lens (these aren't something I can just grab on 1-800 contacts and I cannot wear glasses due to the Rx my condition makes), so I am basically stuck waiting... what is it now? SEVEN MONTHS???? to see a doctor. Not looking good so far. Hershey needs to stop riding on their outdated reputation as a good hospital and get with the program. Maybe start by LISTENING to your patients. I didn't want to tell this dude my life story, believe me, I am busy as well... but I would have liked the opportunity to give pertinent, valid information that would have saved me this hassle. Do better Penn State/Hershey.
I said several times in my referral that I needed a general eye exam for new glasses. I was sent to Harrisburg to complete a retinal photo which is a service usually performed during a general eye exam if you need one. I was informed at the appointment that I would not be getting a general eye exam done. The retinal photo was not my priority at the time, but they prioritized it because they said Harrisburg was the only location it could be performed. Complete waste of time.
Loved Kristin Goodling OD . So friendly, knowledgeable, helped me with a major eye I was dealing w for 25 years !Her staff all amazing .Front desk and check out quick and easy
Consistently late for scheduled appointments. Practically, physicians are good when I see them. Speaking with person in waiting room, and she said she has been waiting 2 hours. Same physician for me and currently 1 hour 40 minute wait time. No updates or communication about status.
This center has very poor communication. Once they do surgery, they forget about you. You're just a number here. I had an upper bleph done and it was completely botched. I will likely have to go somewhere else to get it re-done. The doctors here do not care about your recovery. They try to get you in the door but once your surgery is over, the aftercare is pitiful. Might as well not even have a patient portal if you're not going to reply to messages.
