One of the best retina specialist in the state. Coming from out of state and having a detached retina which annually checkups is nice. The doctors are very professional and the staff is fast paced. Best day to go is on a Monday, every time I've went for the past 4 years I was in and out in 1 hour or less. Thank you Dr. Wedel and staff!
Life saving and eye saving too! Dr. Baker is the BEST! I love this practice and this doctor. I am not sure about any of the others as I have never had anyone but him. I know the wait is long sometimes because they have emergency visits, but how can you knock the wait times when they are saving your eyes. Mind blowing! I would follow them to the ends of the earth and my life. They have done so much for me and my eyes and I am eternally grateful. I would probably be blind by now if it was not for this practice. So, to all the frustrated haters out there...put your reviews and priorities into something good because these people are just great! The staff is absolutely amazing too, sorry I don't want to forget you all! Makes the wait better having friendly and helping staff, I have never had a bad experience here except for the procedures lol yuk! You all ROCK this practice! I will never forget what you all have done for me, and so very very kind too!
I had been to this office back in the spring of last year. Another office was closer, but I had a run in with a staff member who shouldn't have been to work that day. She was visibly upset as my original doctor had just died. The Dr who died did not use an antibiotic cream after the procedure that I had. So, it wasn't necessary and for some reason added a couple more days to my recoup time. This doctor was adamant about using the cream. So, I allowed the obsessive-complusive doctor to use the cream. Tears began running down my cheek as the staff in a bad mood was looking out the window. I made a motion to my cheek with a tissue to bring the staff person back to our present reality. She jerked the tissue out of my hand and angrily threw it into the trash. I angrily told her, "Don't you EVER do anything like that again!" She stomped out of the room. I told the doctor that I didn't want that woman in the room where I was having any more procedures! The doctor said he would make a note in my chart. You can make a bet that he did. Listen my friends, these people are organized into unions. No one backs unions any more than I do. Worker's unions are one of the few ways that we can fix what is wrong with this country. But, make no mistake, medical personnel do NOT like you standing up for yourself. I've got the proof of that. So, I started making my appts at the Hershey office. They seemed to want to listen and work with me until today. I called them today and very nearly had an appt set up. My wife and I have moved further away, but we were willing to make the trip, because I was an established patient there and we love to travel. Another woman got on the phone who was concerned about our extra travel. The office in Harrisburg, where I had all of the trouble, was closer. I was already aware of that, but I had the office that I wanted. This second woman told me that the staff might be at the Hershey office. But, the real problem was the doctor. The woman was absolutely set against making the appointment for me. I just had to hang up. I think that's actually what she wanted. I had problems with a huge healthcare company in the Hershey, Harrisburg and Camp Hill area. These are all connected by unions. Now, I may be wrong about these people. But, it's not hard to find out. If you're the type of person that will stand up for yourself or a dependent person, you're gonna have trouble in this area of the State. Just mark my word.
I have to admit that PA Retina Specialists are not unionized, unless I read an old article. I went ahead and made my appointment at another provider's office. My advice to you, if you're going to use PA Retina Specialists is to keep your mouth shut and don't challenge anything they do. You will have a wonderful experience, if you handle things that way. If you speak up about anything or request something different, the blame will be placed on you, the patient. And you may not be welcome the next time.
But, don't forget that one of your patient rights is to refuse a procedure or part of one. The nurses assisting were attempting to convince me that the DOCTOR was afraid that I would get an infection. So, "All hail the Doctor" and "To hell with your patient rights!" So, like I said earlier, if something is unsuitable for you, keep your mouth shut, if it contradicts the doctor. If you want to make a point of my long hair, it is long because my wife asked me to grow it. The overall grades of these people are mediocre at best. Maybe, you'll have to travel a good ways to find someone else, but most of these practices involve long waits and going from room to room. That's just a part of the beast. I've been in Ophthalmologist offices here in PA, IN and MI. They're all the same. You just have to muster up your patience and wait.
I came in as an emergency case. Dr. Troung saw me at closing time. He and some of his staff stayed after closing. Next morning I had my surgery. I had no vision, but a little peripheral vision. The whole staff was wonderful. I am getting my vision back (blurry), but I just had surgery Friday and it is Tuesday. I am extremely thankful to Dr. Troung. His operating room team were great. Follow the aftercare instructions and you will have a better chance with your vision.
I've been going to PRS for many years. Dr Prensky was probably the best Dr I have ever had. The service was amazing even with the 2-2.5 hr wait. That said, I will never go back and will move to another provider. The Dr I see now is disrespectful, unhelpful and frankly unpleasant. If you have options, find a different provider.
Well, do NOT go here if you are remotely in a hurry. I've been twice and the waiting is beyond absurd. The people there and the doctors are SO nice but no one should have to wait 2 hours to see their doctor and that's not an exaggeration. Twice I have been to 9 AM appointments and left the office around 11:30 and i wasn't there for anything major. When i left my last appointment the sign at the front had the wait time for each doctor at approximately 1 hour/45 minutes WITH an appointment. That's just unacceptable. Sorry, there can't be that many emergencies in the world. This place is clearly doing something wrong in terms of their scheduling.
I've been treated twice in the past year, each time by a different doctor. Both doctors were excellent. Surgery was successful, doctors are caring and kind. Staff also excellent. I did not wait that long, nothing out of the ordinary anyway.
I have been to the Camp hill office several times I am a VA patient who is receiving care from Dr Stem because I live so far from the Lebanon VA. Dr Stem and all the employees at this location have provided me with outstanding care and service. I give them all 5 stars for their dedication and service that they have provided to me as a veteran. I will continue to have all my eye care services with Pa Rentina Specialist.
