I am new to the area and called to set up an appointment for my daughter who has seen an ophthalmologist her entire life as it has been medically necessary for her to do so. This practice reports they see pediatric patients online. The receptionist was the rudest person I have ever encountered. She tried to tell me that my daughter's needs are not medically necessary, as if she has access to our 8 years of medical history. I felt she was talking to me like I was dumb and refused to schedule us with the doctor. Now, I'm a midwesterner with a southern flair, I have never been rude to someone like this in my life. From the looks of other reviews, I'm not the first who has encountered this.
When I mentioned that we have seen a pediatric ophthalmologist for 8 years and that was deemed medically necessary, her response was, "it's different here in Pennsylvania." Um...sure. Got it.
I can't say if the doctors are quality providers or not as I was deemed not important enough to be seen by the mighty gatekeeper.
Apparently people in Armesto's office don't know how to follow directions. I left their practice about 3+ years ago & I still get messages to schedule an appointment with one of their doctors. More than once I've called asking to have my name removed from their files. Yes I got upset because I was told person in charge was with patients so I was to leave a message which for 3 years leaving a message meant absolutely nothing. The person in charge is very rude & nasty spoken because I wanted to speak with them to make sure my file was closed/removed. Never, never, never have I ever dealt with such ignorant people when trying to settle a continual problem.
Staff is VERY rude. The Front desk lady that checked my boyfriend in seemed confused and talked in circles. When we finally got back to a room the doctor was nice enough but seemed to side eye me when I asked a question. The woman that was typing for him was BEYOND rude. She said things like "if we don't get your eyes dilated we have to do it again in 20 minutes and I don't think you want to be here all night!" When my boyfriend asked if he would be able to drive she snapped back with "this effects your near site so if you don't think you can that's up to you but it's up close sight!" Then turned to me and said "please drive" beyond other comments she was not nice at all. When we were in the room one staff member said to another in the hallway (the door was cracked) "if you keep bringing people back early that's an automatic write up" and the rude lady in our room shut the door quick. The place seemed unprofessional and those we interacted with were rude but ONE.
Armesto is located in the same building as my son's pediatrician of 12 years and counting, off the Technology Parkway in Mechanicsburg. I ended up here after repeatedly failing to successfully schedule for my annual eye exam at a nation optical retail store. Now there are a number of ophthalmologists and eye surgeons, but there's just one optometrist, Dr. Match. He's only available on Tuesdays so you do need to take time off from work to make the appointment, but it's worth it. Dr. Match is personable and very thorough. After my first visit, I recommended that my son also have his eyes checked and he like him, too. The assistant, Barb, may seem loud at first, but she's actually friendly and well meaning.
The facility is pleasant and clean. Both receptionists greeted me with smiles and tried to be helpful during check-in and check-out. I did have to wait 20-30 minutes before I got examined, but that's within my tolerance. I've been coming here for 2 years and I don't see any reason for me to not continue.
NVA vision insurance plan is accepted. They have their own optical shop directly up the stairs, thus providing full services for your eyes. BTW, that's also where you'd pick up your printed prescription.
I will never come back to this place. They were so rude they make you feel like you call for no reason. Just had cataract surgery and something didn't feel right called in and the doctor himself said you couldn't wait till we opened. Like really I'm sorry I am new to this surgery and wasn't sure if this was an emergency or not and that is how you talk to
Me. Their bed side manor is horrible there wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
I had an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience with Dr. Armesto. He was dismissive of my concerns, made degrading remarks, and even mocked me when I became emotional. Rather than offering support or professionalism, his scribe joined in, furthering the uncomfortable and disrespectful tone of the visit. I left feeling unheard, disrespected, and completely let down. I would not recommend this provider to anyone looking for compassionate or competent care.
I went with my 77 year old dad who is having issues seeing street signs, etc. We were "helped" by a woman with the personality of a Russian Border Guard. She was barking out orders in quick succession and then getting frustrated when he would hesitate. Based on the numerous reviews, it is clear she has been a problem for a long time; and yet, she remains employed. Is she the Doctor's mother or something? The Doctor was nice enough, although diagnosing my father's issue may or may not have been accurate since he was given a new prescription for glasses and a month later, he has still not received them from the eye glass store associated with this practice. A MONTH! They claim something about them being lost in transit but never bothered to call and let us know. I had to call to find out what was taking them so long and was told the glasses were lost and needed to be remade.
Learned that a yearly exam does not include testing vision for glasses even if you wear glasses! Was told must ask for a refraction!
