10-16-25 Today I Just had the best experience all the way around getting my eyes checked out at the West Mifflin Community Eye Care...! Leslie, Leesa & Britany were all very nice and an awesome pleasure to work with...! They all treated me like I was family and with care...! Dr. Dave couldn't have been nicer and kept me informed on every aspect on the total examination. He took the time to listen and answer all my question I had about my eyes. Couldn't have found a better Optometrist in all my years. You're the Best Dr. Dave...!!! Thank you everyone for this awesome experience. You all definitely put my mind at ease...!!!
My fiance has been going here for many years (since he was a child) to get his eye exams & glasses. I recently started joining him on his appointments & have noticed the whole team of people who work there (front desk & doctors) to be extremely personable & professional. The prices are reasonable & the atmosphere & selection of frames are great! I definitely recommend this place for anyone in need of an eye exam, glasses, or contacts!! :)
My Michael Ryan MR-386 frame hinges continue to fail causing glasses to NOT stay on when looking down. I worry of damaging or losing them when reading, cutting grass, etc. I was told that I worn them out from not using two hands when removing them. I wish I was told in Nov 2024 when I picked them out that this frame has weak plastic hinges and the hinges are not covered under warranty. In my opinion, these require special care that was not clear when purchased. I never had a pair of glasses that I was concerned about failing off. I paid close to $400 (progressive, transition etc.) after insurance and concerned I will lose my glasses if not extra careful. Be careful of what quality that they carry.
This will be my 3rd upcoming visit for glasses
I am very pleased with all staff. I have had no problems with their knowledge of my insurance and coverage cost. Nice selection. Not overwhelming. Very clean atmosphere. Everyone is pleasant and professional. Highly recommend them.
Had my eye appointment there a week ago and the staff was extremely helpful as well as the doctor. Dr, Boehme explained everything to me very clearly and helped me see the best I've seen in years! Thank u!
Had my first appointment here today & am very pleased with my experience! This will be my new regular optical office.
When first walking in the door, it is easy to feel a little underwhelmed by the small "lobby" area. However, if you look past the smaller size of the office, you'll notice how nice the place really is.
Really, the smaller space offers an advantage, as the staff are more alert to exactly what gets touched, and are incredibly vigilant to sanitize every surface, and pair of frames, that are touched by anyone. The entire place is very clean and well- lit.
In addition, the staff were very attentive to ensure accessibility for wheelchair users in the space provided.
The environment, and staff, is very welcoming, and it all feels very "homey". The doctor I met with was incredibly kind and professional, and took care to make me feel very safe, comfortable, and informed.
As it initially didn't seem like there were many frame options on the wall, I was unsure, at first, if I'd actually be able to find a pair in stock that looked, and fit, well with my face. However, upon actually taking the time to look around, I realized that there were many in-style options available, including men's, women's, kids' and sunglasses. I was able to find a beautiful frame for a transitional pair of lenses, fairly quickly!
Long story short, if you are looking for a new optician, give this place a try!! Don't focus on the size of the space, but rather the quality of the office as a whole.
Thanks so much to the doctor & staff with whom I interacted today!!
I receive 1 pair of glasses free from medicare because of cataract surgery. Medicare listed community eye care as a provider. Community eye care knew nothing about it. The had no idea about how much I could spend If there was a time limit so they contacted their insurance specialist. They said there was a time limit, there was not. They said was a limit on frame price, there was not. Lenses had heavy restriction frames had none. They told me to buy carbonate lenses because they don't scratch, they do. I had to pay for bifocals but I knew that. My no cost medicare glasses cost me a little over 200.00 I later checked this with Medicare. By the way these glasses suck
Service was good, my main issue is that I was asked to do a test that wasn't covered by my insurance that I had previously had with another doctor. I explained this and the doctor said that is fine. His aid then comes in a few minutes later and tells me there is another test that is covered by the insurance and o agreed to it.She said this to me twice. They look at the test hold the data for the next time. There was no real point as they had nothing to go by previously and they were apparently not listening to me. After I pick my glasses and go out front to pay I then find out I Am being charged for the test after all. I did not appreciate that at all and do not trust offices that operate in that fashion and will not return.
