America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

I have been using America's Best for over 10 years. I have never had an issue until 3 weeks ago. I went in being told I could get the pair eyewear. I got the exam and decided on what I wanted for the frame and magnetic snap ons. The rep then tells me they can't be made with my prescription. So I ended up having to settle for the 2 pair, which I didn't want to do. I had to pay more than what I wanted but I went ahead with the purchase. The next week I had to go and have an exam at our local eye Dr. My prescription from America's Best was 100% not going to work for me. The local office I seen gave me a new prescription just in case there's didn't work. Sure enough when I went to get my glasses the prescription they prescribed was so strong I couldn't see at all and the lens were so thick that they are barely in the frames. I gave them my new one to have them replaced with the proper ones. I go yesterday to pick the new ones up and only one pair was there. The receptionist Rhonda had told me the day before that they were both back, which was a lie, and then proceeded to hang up on me when I tried to ask another question. Let me add how she is absolutely the most rude human I have ever spoken to. So I get there and find out there's only 1 pair. I take them and leave and they called me later that day and said your other pair is back. I go back and they were the exact pair I had just picked up. The first pair they gave me were the old prescription they had given me and the second pair thank God was my new prescription. I have still not received my second pair of glasses. Once they do arrive it will be my 4th trip to retrieve them. That's if they are even right. I have ended up ordering the magnetic glasses offline for half the price of what I have paid there and yes my correct prescription can be made with those types of glasses. I honestly feel a partial refund should be made because I drive almost 2 hours each time there and back. I am perfectly fine with having to pay for my exam even though it wasn't done properly. America's Best in Hixson Tn will never have my business again.

How it started and ended: The rating I am giving is based soley on the interaction I had with Michele.(my true experience would be a 2 from start to finish and pick up of eyeglasses.) When I approached the front counter with 2 pair of frames neither of the associates acknowledged that I was standing there and continued looking down and carousing at paperwork or staring at their terminals. Michele walked by and asked if I needed any help and it was the best experience I had! Not only was she professional, she assisted with my insurance as we were both on hold in need of a representative. She took her time, we laughed and carried on casual conversation while I was seated at her station, and she was sharing she was in school, the conversation flowed even though we had just met. The 2 frames I purchased I opted in for single vision in one and progressive in the other. I had never had progressive lenses before and she did an outstanding job just sharing her experience with hers and also providing pointers on how to hold my head, adjustment and placement. Before picking them up, I did call ahead to ensure they were ready as I was coming from East Brainered in Chattanooga. A male answered the phone and immediately his voice gave annoyed. I said hello and stated my name and the reason for the call, he asked me two seperate times what my last name was and was rushing me off the phone and came back with "yeah they are here" and hung up. Unfortunately when I arrived to pick them up there was a male there by the front desk near the door, I heard his voice as he was speaking and knew it was him. When picking them up on 01.21.2026 I came in to see the same rude woman from before and this male at the desk, once again no acknowledgement when I said hello and at the same time I saw Ms. Michele and I said I'm here to see Michele and was "waved" off with the comment " well there she is" ****** My 01.08.2026 Interaction********* Arrived at this location on the recommendation of a colleague as I was told they had wonderful frames that could be an investment. Upon arrival I will say the 2 women who were at the front desk were organically unfriendly and in my opinion need retraining on customer service etiquette. Upon entering, I asked the one at the first desk(name unknown) would it be okay for me to look around. She was like go ahead. Mind you it was 10am and when I arrived there were 3 individuals sitting by the window. The frames were affordable The frames were stylish The establishment was easy to find I went during the opening hours and it was not busy. This was the location in Hixson located at 5756 Highway 153 Suite 120

I would honestly recommend this place to anyone. Great eyewear selection, and the staff is great. Big thank you to Michele for all her time and making sure my lenses were 100% working for me. If you want a polite staff that cares about your needs, this is the place you need to go to!

I ordered contacts from here recently and that experience was fine. To save $4.95, I had them shipped to the store. Big mistake. Today I went to pick them up during a break in my busy day, but due to what appeared to be a lack of staff, I waited 10 minutes and gave up. Pay the $4.95 and have them shipped to your home. Your time and patience is worth it.

I spoke with an older female employee there 1/16 @ 9am over the phone asking prices for contacts. She was very rude, impatient, and lacks empathy and customer service overall. I asked to speak with someone else as 'I did not appreciate her customer service' and she responds 'well we're pretty slammed right now and there's only two of us'. She did not bother to empathize, apologize, or anything of that sort. It's apparent it's a common issue with this location. Employee(s) treat customers with no respect and it seems to go unmanaged. If you contact this place, be prepared to not be treated well.

Horrible customer service over the phone from Rhonda at America's Best in Hixson. As a Healthcare professional myself, being rude to a client over the phone is unacceptable. Her phone etiquette in regards to my 17 yr old daughter was completely unacceptable. Then to be placed on hold for up to 10 mins just to tell me she had gotten a Supervisor in regards to my issue and never return to the phone. Customer service is in person and phone etiquette, Healthcare is caring for people's health, not acting "like I'm bothering you" because a patient calls. America's Best Im disappointed.

My daughter had a scheduled eye exam, and upon arrival was informed that a parent needed to be present. She is 17 years old and will be turning 18 in five days. My husband called to inquire about this requirement, as she was seen at the same location last year without either parent present. During the call, the store associate, Rhonda, repeatedly spoke over my husband, did not allow him to finish his questions, and ultimately placed him on hold. While we understand and respect company policy if parental presence is required, the manner in which the situation was handled was unacceptable. The interaction lacked professionalism and was handled with unnecessary disrespect. I instructed my daughter to leave, as I no longer felt comfortable entrusting them with her or my family's care.

The worst experience I've ever had with an eye doctor. Been seeing the doctor here for two and a half months. Four eye exams and eight different trial contact lenses. Nothing was working and my eyes started to hurt, was getting headaches and my one eye was twitching a lot (still twitches today). The doctor won't listen to what works with past experiences with other eye doctors I've had. Been wearing contacts for over 30 years, so I know what works for my eyes. Went to a different eye doctor and had a set of contacts that worked out great for me in less than 20 minutes. This place is not a place you would want to go to for contacts at least. Also I asked for a refund because they obviously were not able to help me. My request was declined. They said they had provided a service and I couldn't receive a refund. They didn't complete the service in my opinion. Now I'm out $130. Thanks Americas best for taking my money, while actually doing nothing for me but hurting my eyes.
