Dr Steven Sterling

I did not have a good experience with Dr. Sterling, so I ended up spending thousands of dollars to make my vision worse. I think a lot of the problem was just poor communication by him and his office staff. I went to him about a year ago to have cataract surgery and he recommended a Toric lens to correct my astigmatism. I was given a confusing paper with two different times to show up on my surgery day, so I called the surgery center and they told me the correct time to come there and confirmed that I needed so have someone drive me since I would be unable to drive afterward. I asked why the doctor's office would have told me a different time and they didn't know but they were sure of the time my surgery was scheduled for, so I figured that was all I needed to know. I did not realize that I was expected to have my ride take me to his office about a half hour away first for some measurements and then have my ride immediately take me to the eye surgery center afterward for the surgery. So, I showed up at the surgery at the time they told me to come and the woman behind the reception desk asked me if I had seen the doctor. I didn't know what she was talking about and said I had just arrived and they looked concerned and went to talk with someone else. After some discussion, I was told I should have gone to his office first but then was told it shouldn't make a difference and that he could go ahead and do the surgery as planned, so that's what we did. After the surgery, the vision in my left eye was considerably worse than it was before the surgery and all the things he has tried since then have not helped. He said the Toric lens was placed slightly off from where it should have been placed. Now, everything looks like it has a shadow, like double vision but overlapping, and my night vision is worse, making it harder to drive at night. It gets better with glasses, so now I have to wear glasses all the time, when I used to only have to wear glasses for reading and using the computer. My right eye did improve slightly from before the surgery, but over time it seemed to get worse. It seemed like my brain was having a hard time trying to see clearly out of my left eye and it affected the vision in my right eye. If you decide to go with Dr. Sterling anyway, just be sure to get very clear communication up front about what you need to do and when and where, and be prepared to have to repeat yourself to him. He kept suggesting at each visit that my vision was better than it was before, but I had to tell him that it was not better, since I still see double. When I look at lights when driving or at stars or on equipment, I see two or three where there is only one.

Dr. Sterling did my recent cataract surgery (using new UV light sensitive technology). I can't recommend this business and Dr. Sterling enough. The staff is caring and responsive! Dr. Sterling is incredibly knowledgeable and also personally concerned about each patient. His decisions are carefully thought out and communicated. After my cataract surgery, I can now SEE -- for the first time since I was 6 years old. Not everyone could have handled my weird eyes, and he had to tackle some oddball stuff, for sure. GREAT EXPERIENCE! Also, this isn't some giant corporate office. They know you and they treat you like a valued person.

I highly recommend Dr. Sterling to anyone who really cares about their eyes. I've had several surgeries as well as shingles that started in my right eye. I am so thankful for all the excellent care he has provided to me over the years. I've recommended him to many people through the years who have been just as happy with his treatment as I have.

I was visiting from out of state for a wedding and got a corneal abrasion. Was in HORRIFIC pain ALL night. Called around and finally came across this office. They told me to come right in. Within minutes of arrival, they gave me numbing drops. Also antibiotic drops, steroid drops and he placed a healing contact. He THEN called my ophthalmologist back in Texas and set an appointment up for me when I got back home. The next day, a Saturday, he met me at the office to evaluate and check on me one more time before our flight home the next day. Had to wear sunglasses the entire weekend and wedding but this man saved my eyeball and weekend. He also followed up on Monday after my appointment at home, cannot recommend this doctor and office more. Love them so much I may just fly to Tennessee for all my eyeball problems!

I needed a follow up after urgent care for an eye injury. The office staff was sympathetic and got me a quick appointment. Dr. Sterling was extremely thorough and found a problem urgent care had missed. He was sympathetic to my considerable pain from the injury, personable and concerned in taking the history of the injury, and cautious in scheduling follow ups to make sure I healed as needed. His staff was cordial as well as professional, and I felt like I was receiving optimal attention and experienced and knowledgeable care. I could not recommend this office and Dr. Sterling any higher.

My case was more challenging than most, as my previous RK surgery and scars made cataract surgery and choosing the right lens implant more difficult. Thanks to Dr. Sterling's skill and experience, I now have 20/20 vision. It's impossible to adequately express how grateful I am to him and to Laurel, Amber, Jamie, Kendra and the rest of his top notch crew.

Dr. Sterling is great! He has performed surgery on both of my eyes. My eyesight is better now than it has ever been. His office staff is also great. Jennifer, Laurel and Rachel all do great jobs handling all the scheduling, testing and follow up Details.

Dr. Sterling is the best doctor. He took great care of my mother in law. She was told that she would be blind from her condition but Dr. Sterling stayed on top of her problems and she passed away with her eye sight. She was his patient for over 30 years. He is definitely worth a wait because he cares for everyone of his patients equally. He is amazing in his knowledge of eyes. We love our doctor!
