I am both amazed and fascinated at the outcome of my cataract surgery that Dr. Doss did. There was zero pain or discomfort and the results were phenomenal. My vision is 20/20 and colors are so crisp and vibrant. I had my right eye lens for distance and my left one for reading. It works so well. If the print is really small and light I may need my old readers but I can read 90% of most normal print in both books/magazines and my Bible. And this is regular print - not large print. Digital reading because of the lighting is a breeze! Dr. Doss did an excellent job! He explained everything and was very thorough in his post op instructions. I am so glad and excited that I don't have to wear glasses or contacts.

Dr. Doss was extremely patient, and explained the cataract procedure. He took time and answered all my questions. He is easy to talk with and cares about his patients. Also, the staff is excellent and ensures your comfort. They took great care of me. I am glad I had the cataracts removed.

Husband's cataract surgery in both eyes was completed with final follow up today by Dr. Doss with University Eye. Would highly recommend Dr Doss and his staff in Maryville and Surgery Center. The first indication as to whether or not I've wandered into an excellent medical practice is my initial encounter with the employees working there. If they are relaxed, smiling, and friendly, they are likely working for a competent practitioner and are happy to be there. This is the case at University Eye Specialists and specifically all those associated with Dr. James Doss. They were without exception caring, conscientious, and professional. As for Dr. Doss, I was referred to him for cataract surgery by my brother, who had also been referred to him by another family member, all of whom couldn't have praised him more highly. They were right. From the time he introduced himself to me, throughout all the examinations and preparation for the surgery, his explanation of my particular situation and how he proposed to deal with it (I had previously undergone radial keratonomy, which complicates the surgery, making it more difficult and the results more difficult to accurately predict), and his thorougness and care in his measurements to ensure that the surgery would be successful, left me feeling absolutely sure that I was in good hands. As for the surgery itself, all those associated with the procedure were outstanding, efficient, and clearly competent, making me feel very comfortable. The surgery itself went quickly and smoothly. I chose the lens for distance, but because of the previous radial keratonomy, the prediction as to when I would achieve 20/20 vision in the eye could not be predicted as accurately as normal, and he told me that, although unlikely, could take up to a year to achieve. I'm happy to say that within a week, vision in the eye was 20/20, which I can only attribute to his excellence as a surgeon, and I want to thank Dr. Doss and all those associated with his practice for their expertise and the outcome. I am looking forward to having the surgery performed on my other eye soon. I feel very fortunate to have had Dr. Doss perform the surgery, and without any reservation, could not recommend him more highly to anyone needing the surgery.
