Volunteer Eyecare (Bearden)

I want to thank Dr. Poveromo (Dr. P.) at Volunteer Eye Care in Bearden for coming in on Christmas Eve to attend to an issue with one of my eyes. I started experiencing light flashes and some floaters the night before in one eye. The morning of Christmas Eve there were less flashes but more floaters. I called the after hours number at Volunteer ( my eye doctor ) and left a message. I received a quick call back and described my symptoms to Dr. Poveromo. She recommended that I come in for an exam. After a very thorough examination, it turned out to be PVD which is a common and natural aging process and is generally harmless but can mimic some of the signs of retinal tears. I highly recommend Dr. Poveromo at the Bearden Volunteer Eye Care as well as the facility and staff. Thank you!

Everyone at Volunteer Eye was SO nice and helpful. An extra big shout out to Sunday. She went above and beyond in helping me select new eyeglasses (and I'm not easy to please!). Can't wait to get a call (or two) from Sunday when my new glasses are ready.

The entire staff was so welcoming and helpful. Dr. Anderson was very thorough and comforting when he came across something during my exam a primary provider wouldn't have. Sunday was so friendly when picking out my new Vera Bradley frames too. Will definitely be back!

I haven't had such great service from an eyeglass/optomologist business as I received at Volunteer Eyecare. Not only was it easy to schedule but the wait time was fast yet they took their time and paid close attention to detail with my visit. The assessment was very accurate and improved my vision vastly. It is so much easier to read now. I have less eye strain and headaches. Also, I learned a lot during my visit. The service was outstanding but my favorite part was the prices. I ended up paying 555 dollars less than I was expecting and have paid in the past at other places but did not have to pick and choose between features I wanted. I was able to get ever feature offered and it was STILL 56% less than I've paid for lower quality elsewhere. When my order arrived, which was exactly the time frame that was estimated, the glasses were crystal clear, super light high quality and I could see the world in ultra high definition again. I literally could not be any happier between the amazing service, extremely high quality lenses AND paying less than other places. They accept VSP and I believe most other types of insurance. As long as I live in the area and they maintain this stellar business practice I will be a customer for life. I hope my review helps them and anyone in need of a great eye Dr and eyeglass service.

My husband and I both saw Dr. Anderson at the Bearden location and had a great experience! He was very knowledgeable and professional. Sunday was very sweet and even helped us pick out the perfect pair of glasses.

I returned to Volunteer Eyecare because i was in need of an updated eye exam and had purchased 4 pairs of glasses from them just 3 years ago and wanted to reuse my frames. I was told to bring the glasses and scheduled the exam. Upon arrival I asked that they inspect my frames to verify the frames could be reused. Maybe one, I was told. Three pair were identical and one pair RayBan sun glasses, all were progressive bifocals with anti-reflection. I do not wear these glasses but maybe 10% of my waking hours and I have three pairs (1 office pair/ 1 home pair/ 1 travel pair). I don't have I so have to be thoughtful when I purchase items that cost so much and are likely to need updated due to my eyesight every few years. They don't care about you or me. Their eye exam is twice as much as walk up exams and their glasses are more like three times more expensive while being useless after just three years of minimum use. I will never recommend or return to any Volunteer Eyecare. I would suggest that you go elsewhere as well.

I had my first appt at this office after my husband had a great experience and recommendation from his colleague. He was right! Dr. P is kind, patient, and explains things clearly. The office staff is also kind, helpful, and responsive. I'm so glad we found Volunteer Eye Care in Bearden and Dr. P! My new contacts are glasses are the best I've had in years.

I was looking for a new eye care provider after being less than satisfied with my old one. I happened to drive by Volunteer Eyecare at Northshore one day, and the office looked new and fresh, so I decided to give them a call. This place is great! I needed both new contacts and glasses, and they have a huge assortment of frames to choose from. Dr. Caroline Poveromo was very professional and pleasant to deal with. The whole process was streamlined and effortless, and with the best personalized service I could ever ask for. My contacts and glasses arrived promptly and for a better price than my last eye care provider could offer. Last week I brought my kids in for new glasses as well. We were a little worried about COVID safety, both for the employees sake as well as ours. Amanda assured us that all mitigation measures were in place, and allowed us to book an appointment so we could have the whole place to ourselves! We had a blast trying on new glasses, and with Amanda's assistance, it turned it to be an awesome experience instead of an anxious one. Volunteer Eyecare can be found in several locations in East TN, and I was told that you can drop by any of them for adjustments and free maintenance. After dragging my feet about going to my last eye care provider, this is a place that I truly look forward to visiting. The employees are really dedicated to making your visit a great experience. It's the closest I've come to a personalized concierge eye care service, and I highly recommend Volunteer Eye Care to anyone looking for a new provider.
