Meca Eye and Laser Center

Currently sitting in the waiting room with my mother, her appointment was at 9:45 and it's currently 11:40. 2 hours we have been waiting and have been sent to the waiting room for a 3rd time. Also adding that it's 35 degrees out and it's ABSOLUTELY FREEZING in here. I'm typically warm and for me to say it's cold, ITS COLD. These poor people are wrapped up in their jackets and blankets. I HATE having to come here because I know I'm going to spend half of my day WAITING. What's the point of making an early appointment when you're going to wait 2 hours. Absolutely ridiculous and COLD

I realize everyone has different experiences..most related to a patient's condition at the time..I was very fortunate to have great cataract surgery with Dr. Irvine n the staff was great

I went to see Dr James Freeman regarding sudden frequent Ocular Migraines. After all the testing (all the front desk and testing staff were wonderful) I finally met Dr Freeman 2 hours after my appointment time. He told me my issue was a brain issue and not an eye issue. When I told him I had a total blackout of vision during one of the tests and that it scared me and I was scared to drive, he told me I should be scared to drive more because of the prescribed anxiety medication I take. He was so judgmental of my anxiety medication and didn't ask when or how often I take it (as needed, at night) and told me he could not assist me in getting me into a neurologist sooner than August. He was so dismissive and rude that I began to cry to his assistant as soon as he left the room. I appreciate his testing staff and the amazing front desk staff. But Dr Freeman is rude and dismissive.

I was so impressed with the staff they are awesome, kind and compassionate and Dr. Freeman was the absolute best, he examined my eyes and diagnosed quickly what the problem was. A treatment plan was made and im excited to see what the outcome is going to be

I've dealt with many a medical group in my lifetime. I give Mecca a thumbs up 5x's!!! The patience and integrity used in handling the patients with care is unmatched by any other medical group I've encountered. How my mom is treated is more important to me than anything else and Mecca made me believe they feel the same way. So glad you guys exist.

I was seen today 12-6-24 by Dr. Vestal (Beth) for my annual exam and RX refill and wanted to share my experience. After Dr. John retired, I chose Dr. Vestal because I believed he would bring fresh perspectives and provide excellent care. However, during the visit, I was told there was no reason for me to return to MECA that I could get my prescription from my optometrist. That there was no need to see both doctors. Well for almost four years Dr. John never told me that and he was aware that I saw an optometrist. While Dr. Vestal was not rude his approach felt dismissive. I have always felt valued for the care Dr. John has provided during my annual checkups but felt disappointed as a patient that my choice to come to MECA today was not respected. Dr. Vesta advised me to return to MECA only if I needed a second opinion on anything or PRN. I wanted to bring this experience to your attention because this did not reflect the high standard of care, I've come to associate with MECA. This is the first time a doctor has ever asked me not to return. The behavior displayed by Dr.Vestal is unacceptable. There was no reason for him to dismiss me based on that fact that my optometrist can provide the same service. Thank you for your time and I hope this feedback is helpful.

Dr. Vestal is fabulous. Now, when taken back for prepping, the nurse asked a host of questions. I was asked what medications I was allergic to. I SPECIFICALLY said STEROIDS and Mycin drugs and explained how I was affected by these drugs and I was MORE THAN CLEAR how tough these drugs are on me. I was ASSURED that the drops would not be absorbed into my system. Now, please note when a patient is clear, regarding problem meds, DO NOT PRESCRIBE and state the meds won't be absorbed into their system. THEY WILL!! I've been dealing with horrible anxiety, sleep interruptions, nausea and headaches. But, what really adds insult to injury is that my face is red, scaly and itching. So much so, that I have to see my dermatologist at 7:00 in the morning!!! This is unacceptable. A phone call would be expected. Peggy W.

My daughter was referred to this office by another eye doctor because they were having a hard time getting her vision corrected and she had a pituitary tumor which makes her case complicated. The doctor literally did nothing. He said that he wasn't worried about the tumor and he would suggest following up with an optometrist for her contacts. I said we were hoping to try and get some answers and help. He did not even try. He sent us away with my daughter in tear because she just wants to be able to see. If you are looking for people who are kind and caring, keep looking. It's not here.
