I had some worrisome symptoms that I wanted to get checked, and I wasn't going to be able to see my optometrist in time, so I made an appointment here and they were able to squeeze me in today. I greatly appreciated it!
With that being said, this was honestly one of the worst eye appointment visits I've ever had for a multitude of reasons.
I saw Dr. Rao and she was kind and had a great bedside manner, but everything up to that point was awful.
First off, the woman who took me in to check for glaucoma, reading letters, etc., was coughing up a lung. While I felt bad that she was obviously unwell, it was ridiculous to me that she wasn't wearing any type of gloves or mask (correctly). She also took forever to complete simple tasks that I've had done at previous offices, and I was in the room for about 30 minutes at least. Also, by the tone of her voice, she seemed like she utterly hated her job. Just an extremely different experience than what I've had with other places. I'm someone who cannot get sick and I'm just hoping I didn't catch anything, because while someone is near or touching your face and are clearly sick with something, they should be taking some kind of precautions for themselves and the patients.
Secondly, they send you through a line of 3-4 people to continue different eye tests. Not one person said when or how to do things during the eye exams such as, "ok, I'm about to flash the light, please keep your eye open," or anything. I'm an individual who has done this before, so I knew what was expected, but I can imagine that would be quite frustrating for someone who wasn't sure. More directions are needed - and once again, one of the guys definitely gave off a vibe, that he didn't want to be there.
Then I get called in to see the doctor. It was another guy who called me in to initially see me. While he did a thorough job looking at my eyes, he seemed a bit condescending. I asked if he believed that the eye tests were done correctly and the images were able to be obtained, based on the fact I noticed my eyes had not been fully dilated on both sides, once that was completed. His response, "well they look fully dilated to me!" Yeah, well, they weren't at the time when I had just gotten done with those tests, so there's that.
Also, once my eyes were fully dilated, it wasn't comfortable sitting in a very bright room. Not one person offered me the special glasses you can wear to cover your eyes once they're dilated. Luckily, I remembered I had my sunglasses with me so I wore those for a bit, and only noticed you get those eye covers once you walk out. Which by that point, your eyes are already hurting from all the bright lights (in my case my head was also hurting by the time I left since bright lights + being prone to migraines, is not a good combo).
Only upside: Dr. Rao was very thorough, and did a great job with explaining what she saw (why I gave any stars at all). I appreciated the fact that I got in quickly, but will definitely be looking elsewhere in the future! Also, while I understand that the appointment was made last minute, no one likes feeling rushed or just a number.
After reading advice from chat gpt (not recommended) I was convinced that my retinas were detaching. Went into 4 emergency retina places in Pearland and couldn't find a single doctor on duty. I left many voicemails, and Retina & Vitreous of Texas was the only place that returned my call. They somehow squeezed me in to my "emergency" appointment at 8:30am the following day, processed my insurance, examined my eyes, and told me I was fine. Thanks for the reassurance!
Loved my calm and handsome ophthalmologist the second he walked into the room.
Front desk ladies were knowledgeable and professional.
The only issues I had was the overwhelmingly Republican decor, but that's to be expected in Texas; and waiting in the lobby with low wbc and coughing people...again, to be expected in any doctor's office. I should have worn a mask.
Thanks again for your professional service. Highly recommend.
After seeing two different doctors for my retina eye issues and getting injections for 3 years and doing eye drops. Coming here for the first time I finally got a diagnosis up what was causing my eye issues and the doctor came up with a solution and a game plan on how we will tackle it. Also the staff and the nurses and a text were very professional very friendly and cared about the patient. I would definitely recommend this place.
Being a new patient, I was very anxious. The staff was very professional and the environment made me feel very welcome. My exams were thorough and my doctor explained my test results with a smile. He was professional and made me forget that I was a new patient. I've never had a doctor visit as pleasant as this one.
I highly recommend Dr. Chang. His staff got me into the clinic quickly because of the urgent retinal concerns. Then, Dr. Chang diagnosed and treated the problem with laser therapy that same day and fixed the issue immediately! I am so grateful to him and his clinic. Thank you for all you did to take care of my vision!!
Kudos to Dr. Rao, Dr. Rai for saving my vision, and the rest of the supporting staff in Bellaire and Pearland. I am an Ops person and must admit your operation and workflow is outstanding.
I have visited four times and every single visit was efficient with minimal wait time. Was treated with the utmost respect and sincerity.
Bravo RVT!
