My family friend went in for a follow-up after a diagnosis. She was cautions about the treatment prescribed and decided not to do the treatment but wanted to talk with Dr. A first due to side effects. The doctor sent her nurse in and refused to see her unless she started treatment. I'm appalled at such an egotistic bedside manner. This is why care is hard to navigate.

I called in for an appointment, hoping to be seen as soon as possible . I was seen within the hour. As a new patient, I did not know what to expect. I was in severe pain and extremely nervous about my outcome. From the moment I entered the office, I was put at peace by the staff. There is calmness with every encounter. I met Dr. Abernathy. She is extremely patient, listened, and confirmed my history and treated my eye. She is absolutely wonderful. She hits all the marks. She is kind, caring, thorough, and determined to make a difference. Dr. Abernathy is the only opthamologist I will use from now on.

We found Dr. Abernethy on line when looking for an eye specialist. Our first visit was the best because she truly took time to find out what was wrong. She did not rush nor talk over our heads with big medical terms we couldn't understand. She scheduled a MRI and an appointment with a neurologist to get further findings of the problem. We returned today for a follow up and once again she took time to go over everything. I've had doctor visit experiences that made me feel like another dollar for them. But Dr. Joan Abernethy is the BEST and she works with a True Spirit of EXCELLENCE!!!!!!!! She was God sent!

Dr. Abernethy is really thoughtful, compassionate & caring! She is very trained & skillful in the use of ultrasound to get rid of cataracts without any pain! She told me my cataracts were so thick she couldn't see through them! After a painless surgery, I can now see better, clearer & sharper than I have EVER seen before! I am 67 yrs old! She is very careful, thorough & will check your eyes recovery after surgery several times! Her surgical team is one of the best! They were very sweet, kind & caring! I am very happy & excited about my future! I could hardly see before, but, now, I can see everything sharper & clearer! I have been going to ophthalmologists or optometrists for 57 yrs (since I was 10 yrs old), & Dr. Abernethy is the best of all the ones I have gone to! This was my first surgery ever & she will listen to & answer any questions that you have.
