I have seen Dr. Susan and Stephen Ference for eye exams many years. They take a lot of time with me because I want my prescription as exact as possible. They never rush me and try to upsell. Great service at an exceptional value.
I bought some prescription Ray Bay sunglasses using my vision insurance benefits. The purchase process was smooth. Everything was explained and I agreed to the price which was about $168 out of pocket. The glasses were ready for pick up on time about 2 weeks later. Then today one week after I picked my glasses up I get a call. I answered it thinking oh maybe they are following up on my purchase to make sure everything was good.
I was beyond disappointed when I was told the rep who helped me some how calculated the cost of the glasses wrong and now I was being asked to pay an additional $24 beyond what I agreed to. I would have made a different purchase decision had I know. Assuming the price of my second choice was correct the Nike glasses I was also considering would have been about $50 less. For them to call me on a Saturday for an error they made left me sour. The correct move would have been to eat the charge and train your people better.
I paid the additional$24 that was asked but please know this is not my problem and I won't be back next year and I'm going to warn everyone I know about this experience.
Avoid this establishment as it appears to engage in dubious practices, prioritizing monetary gain. Initially, I was informed they do not accept insurance, yet was promised a complimentary follow-up visit to check on the effectiveness of prescribed eye drops following the $150 out of pocket payment that day. Despite a brief 10-minute examination during this visit, I was unexpectedly charged an additional $70 due to the complexity of the case, a stark contrast to the prior assurance of no cost.
Furthermore, prior to scheduling the follow-up, I explicitly inquired about insurance coverage and was reassured twice that the appointment would be complimentary. Despite this assurance, the booking was not immediately made, and upon calling to schedule, I was once again told there would be no charge. However, this commitment was not upheld as I was later billed an extra $70 for a mere 10-minute consultation. While the doctor's competence is not in question, the lack of transparency and integrity in billing practices is concerning.
I scheduled my fiance's eye appt here and first and foremost, the doctor was very unusual. We've never had a doctor that would put in the contacts for his patients-literally the doctor was taking the contact lenses and putting them in my fiance's eyes for him. Most places allow you to do it yourself (especially since my fiance wears his contacts daily-so he doesn't have an issue putting them in) this made my fiance very uncomfortable. Even before the exam, I tried asking the front desk the pricing for the contact fitting, and if it would be covered under our insurance. They told me it depends on the lenses, and I've never had an optometry place inform me of this. They're usually able to tell me the pricing. The doctor wasn't very thorough on what contact lenses he gave my fiance- didn't state the condition of his eyes until I started to ask questions. And then checking out, they charged me $119 for the co-pay and the contact fitting (meanwhile this is the same out of pocket price you would pay at a Walmart Vision Center). This place rips you off. Would not suggest anyone going here.
I was a little irritated about the facts that they didn't call me back in regards to replacing lenses....then I called and they already ordered them without telling me what my estimate would be first and admitted to me they forgot to call me. . Then over a week later, my order had arrived. To my surprise, after asking if I should bring my old glasses in since I thought I was getting lenses, they told me with my warranty I got a whole new pair of eyeglasses. Just had to pay $25.00 bucks. Got there to pick them up and they wouldn't give them to me because I was suppose to bring my old ones. Nobody told me that. So had to leave without them. Just irritating.
After waiting 10 days and making a couple calls I was told my glasses still weren't ready, and it would be another 8 days because of a problem with a screw. No communication on the issue, and I'm looking at nearly 3 weeks without my glasses. If it wasn't such a hassle with insurance I would cancel my order and demand a refund. I will never go here again for glasses and will make damn sure no one I know does. Horrible customer service.
I have seen Dr.Stephen Ferrence for more than 5 years, he is very thorough and spend as much time as it takes to make sure I can see better every times I see him. Staffs in his clinic are nice, staff in the eyeglasses shop are ok. Overall it's a great experience especially with Dr.Ference.
My family has been going here for a few years now. This place is fantastic.
They have a smaller selection of frames than someplaces, but the stuff they do have is all great. Their staff is friendly and knowledgable. The optometrists also seem to know their stuff.
Wierd story on how we found them:
First place we went to didn't take our insurance for frames (only optometry, wierd), second place we called ahead. This place was in the mall but they had lied about taking our insurance. They wanted us to do a payment plan or something. We went to a 3rd place in the same mall. They had a huge selection of frams but nothing good in it. Then we finally found this place and everything was awesome.
