Dr. Childress has been amazing for my son! We began vision therapy with him when he was 8 months old. In less than a years time, we were able to not only fix problems that surgery didn't fix, but also fix problems that surgery actually caused! Liam no longer has strabismus nor does his right eye deviate like it did. If you're looking to get to the root of your vision issue and fix it, I highly recommend Childress Vision Clinic.

My son had 2 massive brain bleeds in 1999 which left him partially paralyzed on his left side, left visual field limitations & eyes that wouldn't fuse or work together as a team. He had intensive therapy & by the time he had worked daily with Dr Carl & his mother for about a month several hours a day,l Dr Mary saw what she deemed a miracle because his eyes were working properly again. I also am a special needs teacher specializing in autism & have observed Dr Carl's work this population. For those families that followed the prescribed course of treatment including the homework, I have personally witnessed remarkable growth not only in visual attention but in social skills & academics.

We love Childress Vision Clinic and what Dr Carl & Patricia have done for us with our son Matthew over the past 2 years! Not only has his vision improved, we've seen a difference in his behavior, focus, school work, handwriting, etc. We would highly recommend at least getting a consolation to see how they could help your family too!

Dr. Carl and Patricia Childress completely changed our family's lives and we cannot thank them enough for enabling our son to be his true wonderful self and succeed! We gladly drove 90 minutes each way to each appointment for Dr. Carl's superior expertise, in-office tools/therapies, and training for at-home daily strategies, which we implemented with hard work and great success over time. Our son had birth trauma and we always felt something was wrong. However, he would go to traditional medical doctors for checkups and we were always told he, including his eyesight, was fine. A mother's instinct though told me something was wrong as I noticed various things. At around nearly 2 years old, he was evaluated and found to be on autistic spectrum exhibiting most all markers of sensory processing disorder. We did occupational therapy for a year and overcame some things, but most I was told they could not help. As I read up on SPD to do as much as I could from therapeutic and holistic/natural perspectives, I discovered in one book that they advised having the child checked for vision issues (while I am thankful for that book mentioning vision, it also recommended doing things for SPD that were very wrong such as NOT encouraging eye contact, which is the exact opposite of what we needed to be doing). We found Dr. Carl's vision therapy information as the closest to us that specialized in autistic spectrum also. It was also a huge blessing to find out his mother had pioneered a lot of tools and strategies that other vision therapists were not doing. The first evaluation confirmed a host of vision problems that our son had that were responsible for most of his "behavior" and "autistic" issues. The first session was a lot of tears and hard work, but when we got back to the car and all got in, for the FIRST time in I couldn't even tell you, my son looked me in the eye, held my gaze for several seconds, and said, "I love you, Mama." I felt as though I was seeing my son for the first time without all the vision and neurological issues blocking his ability to be who God created him to be. As I said, I cannot thank God and Dr. Carl/Patricia enough for what they've taught us. Don't expect to take your child there, drop him/her off, and have Dr. Carl work some "magic." Parents/caregivers need to learn and be involved. They need to implement things every day. It takes time and hard work. But if you do that and invest in your child's success and future, you WILL climb the mountain and see the progress. You may, as we did, plateau for a while, but if you stay consistent, you will climb the final mountain and change your child's quality of life, independence, and success more than words can ever describe.

I, along with both of my daughters, have received vision therapy from Childress Vision Clinic, and I shudder to think about the issues we all would have had we not received such incredible treatment. I spend a lot of time on the computer and looking at my phone for my business, and my daughters are using computers more and more for school work, and it was causing double vision as well as astigmatisms for us. We spent time being evaluated by Dr. Childress and then put in the hard work of getting our vision back under control. I had one daughter with double vision and one who couldn't focus...neither of which can be resolved with glasses. I also had double vision, and by the time my girls and I were done with treatment, our vision was normal again...colors even seemed brighter. My motion sickness was also resolved with vision therapy, which was the biggest surprise of my treatment! One thing people need to understand is that vision is NOT eyesight, and until you correct the way your brain interprets what your eyes take in, you won't fix the problem(s). Unfortunately, most optometrists will tell you your eyesight is fine and therefore you have no problems with your vision, but you'll continue to struggle with focusing, concentration, work output, headaches and many other issues unless you correct your VISION, which is in the brain, not the eyes. Everyone needs vision therapy in my opinion, especially with how much we all use computers and phones. If you are struggling with ANY issues that you suspect could be vision related, please go have an evaluation done by Dr. Childress and then follow through with the therapy because he is an expert in this field and he CAN help you.

Dr Childress opened his doors up to see me the same day I had an eye emergency. After that he became my new eye doctor and is always professional and extremely knowledgeable about my individual case. I always feel comfortable going to see him and his team always works with me of appointments around my busy work schedule. 5 stars for Sure ;)

Took our son to him because we were told he may need vision therapy. After a 500 dollar consult fee he told us our son did need vision therapy for convergence insufficiency. He said it's a common and easy thing to fix and would only cost us 20 grand. Was all about god and how they do this to help kids in the Jesus name. We went for a second opinion and were told there is absolutely nothing wrong with our sons eye sight. I told the doctor we went to Childress, his response was "Did he ask for a bunch of money?" Stay away from this place.

A few years ago, I was having issues with my eyesight I had never experienced before i.e., double vision, and inability to bring things into focus like before. It was becoming more and more difficult to see clearly when driving at night. Reading became more and more arduous, to the point of wearing me out in just a matter of minutes, making me tired and sleepy. In my profession as a financial advisor--I must read a lot! That was unacceptable. It turned out that my issues were not going to be solved by a new glasses' prescription--there were things wrong with my eyesight from a physiological standpoint. I needed professionally guided therapy--not a new pair of glasses or contact lenses! No eye-care professional had ever "gone there" with me before. Dr. Carl said he was going to try to help me heal things--bring things back in line to where they had once been during my younger days. He patiently put me through a myriad of tests and exercises, to nail down what was going on with my vision. Then he laid out a game plan that would rehabilitate my eyes and everything that contributed to correcting all the things that were going on with my declining eyesight. Some of the things sounded crazy and made me wonder--but I came to discover that everything had its place, and nothing was done without purpose. Some days it was me, and several little kids--all doing our thing, with Dr. Carl orchestrating the process for each of us, barking out orders (his military background coming out)--always in a challenging and encouraging way, reinforced with a smile--pushing us all to do our best. It was quite different than what I had expected, but very refreshing and rewarding. He understands people, people of all ages--he connects. Dr. Carl is a rare individual indeed. He's so much more than an optometrist, or eye-doctor--he's a teacher, an encourager, a life coach that truly loves people and improving their lives. I'll say this without reservation--he changed my life, and I witnessed the vast improvement of the other's lives during the time I spent with them there in his clinic. I highly recommend him. If you're having issues--any kind of issues with your eyesight, give him a chance--you'll see. David Carr Financial Advisor Carr Capital, LLC
