Excellent doctor, unacceptable front desk experience
I've seen Dr. Morales before and think he's an excellent optometrist--kind, thorough, and I've always been happy with his care. Unfortunately, his front office repeatedly undermines that experience.
Two weeks ago I left a voicemail (the only way to reach them--no one answers) and was called back to schedule a routine exam for 11:15 AM. I arrived on time, gave my DOB, and was told--several times--"you don't have an appointment." When I explained they were the ones who scheduled it, I was met with the same response instead of any effort to troubleshoot or apologize. I was then offered a "morning" slot the next Monday at noon, which...isn't morning. We finally landed on 8:00 AM, and I specifically asked that it be entered correctly this time.
About 15 minutes later the office manager or someone from his office called me, yelling and hollering, accused me of being disrespectful (I was firm but polite), when I asked for her name, she refused to share her it (I would've too if I acted like she did), and hung up. That's not professional.
If you only care about the doctor, he's great. If you value respectful, competent scheduling and customer service, look elsewhere. Dr. Morales deserves a front desk that matches the quality of his care. As of today, Dr. Morales has lost all ten members of my family, I refuse to return because of his office staff. I will take my money elsewhere. Do Better!
My experience with the staff and Dr. Morales was great! They provided fast, professional service as well as, correcting my prescription that another local doctor had written wrong twice. I thought that it was my old age and it turned out that it was her error. There is a reason why his lobby is always full.
The people who work in this office are very rude. I have been to this office twice. First time. They told me that they could go ahead and do my daughter's eye examination. She has the states Medicade I go down there and I sit for over an hour and they tell me I was not her turn that she has to wait till January. This was last year and she has to wait till January of this year so I called down there today and they tell me that they can see her today. I asked them to verify everything to make sure she could be seen. Make sure her insurance would cover it and the timing was right they assured me on the phone that everything was good and for me to be there exactly at 1:45. Well I show up 25 minutes earlier go in there and sit down and she calls me over to the front desk and she tells me well I don't know what to tell you she can't be seen till January 29 and I said I talked to somebody in here earlier this morning, she even called me back to verify everything was good and she's like well. I don't know what to tell you now this is the second time this has been done. I'm very dissatisfied with this office and most of the women that work in it the girl at the front desk with the curly hair is a very rude inconsiderate. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau.
I had the hiccup at the end of the day. I made an assumption that the "next door experience" would also be covered by my insurance. This is of no fault of anyone besides myself. As for the office and exam, they did fine by me. I apologize to Dr. Morales if I offended him in any way at all. I'm a bit weird and talk just as weird but I meant what I said in a sincere manner. I'll be back next year. Sooner if I need to.
I've been coming to Dr Morales for over 10 years have had no issues with his service but the receptionist and technicians look so miserable when doing their job. They're by far rude and seem annoyed at trying to assist their patients. They stated my insurance was out of network so I gave them a secondary insurance and they were unable to use my secondary insurance because they have to insist on using my primary. I said well remove my primary insurance and use the secondary as primary instead the receptionist said the only way I can use my secondary as primary is I would have to cancel my vision insurance. Then I said, Well can't you just remove my primary insurance from my profile? She said no! In all, I wouldn't recommend this place, not because of the optometrist, but because they have the worst staff and customers service is absolutely unprofessional.
It was my daughter's first eye exam ever, shes 5. The tech was very kind and patient with her. When it came time to see the optometrist he had zero patience. She was scared of the eye drops as and she let out a small yelp because she was obviously scared and the dr completely shut down and asked if I wanted to "bring her back when shes older" instead. Definitely wont ever go back needless to say. I have never been dismissed by a health care professional like that. They should be direct and let patients know where their patience ends with kids. I took my daughter out of school for this appointment just to have this experience. Don't waste your time if you want someone more empathetic towards your children.
DO NOT GO HERE. I would give negative 100 stars if possible! The optometrist was extremely rude, inpatient and rushed me away without saying anything. He just did a basic eye exam and told me I have an eye condition that glasses wouldn't help me at all. He wrote down a website for me to google, DIDN'T EVEN SAY THE NAME OF MY CONDITION, and said that he didn't have time to explain anything to just google it myself and get out of there because he was busy. Would not answer a single question or explain anything. Extremely unprofessional man. I left terrified not knowing what my diagnosis was based off one simple exam. I went to americas best and they able to fully examine me and talk about a possible condition I might have (completely different from what this man diagnosed me with), and were able to give me a prescription that would work for me. Don't even waste your time going with this man.
If I could give zero stars, I would. The techs are very patient, but the optometrist is horrible when it comes to littles. I took my 4 year old for his first exam, because his pediatrician recommended it. Our appointment was at 9am, he didn't even walk-in until 10:20am. He said we could "come back when he is older," or "sedate him." Needless to say, I took my son & we left.
