Dr. Timithy M. Dunham, MD

I accompanied my mother to her visit with the doctor because she doesn't speak much English and she likes to understand her medical condition. Dr. Dunham does not like to be asked any questions. When questioned why a test he ordered was necessary his original reply was 'because I ordered it'; when I asked again, and again - he started with medical jargon and when I continued to ask him to explain is layman's term he said the test would help him understand her condition. At that point, he ordered his assistant to refer my mother back to the specialist who referred her to him to conduct the test since I was confused! I was not confused, I just needed to understand the what and why; that is any patient's right. If you have read this far, is up to you if you want to have him treat you, there are many, many, many excellent specialist in San Antonio that are transparent on their treatments and with much better bedside manner.

Recently diagnosed as diabetic and had my first exam. Very impressed by how much Dr Dunham could tell me about myself by examining my eyes. He is thorough, professional and very knowledgeable. I am so glad my doctor suggested I visit Dr. Dunham. The staff was also incredible. I am sorry that I didn't get the young assistant's name who helped me...I'd like to give her a 5-star shout out as well. I will be a patient here and I highly recommend this office, staff and incredible Doctor!

I recently visited Dr. Dunham for an eye exam and had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and professional the office was clean and well-organized, and I felt comfortable throughout the entire appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Dunham for anyone needing eye care!

Awful,rude, unprofessional. I brought my grandmother here 3 times only because her pcp referred her here. Once 3 years ago for consultation, 2nd for follow up after her surgery, and recently to check out the issue she is now having with one eye from the surgery.And every time we get there we spend hours there. And that's with an appointment. Four and half hours there every visit it's ridiculous. I could understand if it was packed and under staffed. But nope 3 people in waiting area and several assistants doing nothing. They are unorganized and unprofessional. He is very rude as well , fyi you can hear everything from in the room. Talking down on your assistants is very unprofessional.My grandmother is very old and had trouble staying in the dr.s chair because she kept sliding down and couldn't reach the floor. We asked if she could wait in her chair and they said dr would be in shortly. A whole hour goes by and my poor grandmother is hanging on to the chair with her dear life. I got her up and moved her to her chair.Then the Dr. there knew my grandmother had a rare condition with her eyes,and still had her get surgery that made her vision completely worse she is now almost legally blind. She went into a depression because she at least was able to see with glasses before the surgery compared to now not even glasses work because how blind she became.After the surgery he said her condition caused her eyes to take much longer to heal in order for her to see better. 3 years later her eyes never healed and is completely blind. With his expertise he should have never had her get the surgery knowing her condition. At this point I'm convinced they enjoy running up peoples insurance for unnecessary procedures. Don't waste your time or money here not worth it.

Dr. Dunham and Andrea were incredibly rude and unprofessional on multiple visits. The office is falling apart and dirty. You call and get no response. You finally get a hold of Andrea to verify insurance then follow up a week later to find out that she never did anything. She's a pushy sales person when it comes to getting glasses. Dr. Dunham is horrible. He complained a lot, never introduced himself, no manners. I'm the type of person to smile and try to brighten up the other person's day but he would ignore you. He claimed it was going to take too long to find out what my eye glass prescription was because my eyesight is too bad and refused to finish the exam. I have never been told that. He wanted me to come back with the prescription that I was given by the previous doctor that I saw a few years ago so that he could "figure it out". On top of that, he told my husband that he was too old for contact lenses. He's 40. Completely healthy eyes except for the vision. There's a lot more that I could say but it'll take a while. I did go to a different doctor who had absolutely no problem getting my prescription. I mentioned to the doctor I see now some of claims that Dr. Dunham had stated, and they were as confused as I was. I will say that the rest of the staff is sweet, but I'm just glad I'm never going back, and anyone else should look elsewhere.

I saw Dr. Dunham for more than 5 years and he never raised a concern about my eyes. My very first visit to my new eye doc and they identified an eye disease on my very first visit and I was told there is no reason this shouldn't have been diagnosed by my previous ophthalmologist. Be very careful which providers you choose and it's worth getting second opinions every so often.

Doctor Dunham really cares about his patients. I have been going to him for years and every time he h helps me with what I need. Whether it's glasses, contacts, surgery or eye tests it's worth going to see him for a good consultation. The wait time can be a little long but I rather wait for a good doctor or than have a quick visit with one who really doesn't care.

I have been to eye doctors since I was 9, good and bad ones. I saw Dr Dunham in 2014 and was so impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. I recently became re-insured and was so glad to find him again. I can see again!
