Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates (MCOA)

This was my first visit. The young lady at the front desk was okay, no smile but a nice greeting. The wait time to see the tech wasn't long. He was professional pleasant and explained each step as me moved along the exam. Then there was a wait to see the doctor. When I walked in the room the doctor was already sitting in a chair and he said "My name is Dr. Bustamante have a seat....." I didn't understand everything he said but, I did understand that I needed to sit down in the chair in front of me. He immediately started the exam by touching my closed eyes, then I opened my eyes, then the bright lights. As the doctor examined me, he said things to the documenting nurse (I assume that's what she was). This man was moving like he was in a race. This was my first time here and there was nothing about this doctor that made me feel comfortable. Afterwards he told me that due to dry eye I have some issues that I should not put off treating. Everything was said so damn fast, I was like WHAT? He repeated himself but, he'd already lost me as a patient when he didn't that the time THE FIRST time to explain this new diagnosis to a new patient. The young lady that helps you pick out your glasses is the best this about this office. My follow up visit was yesterday 1/22/2023 EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! I received a call asking me to come in for my appointment early. When I arrived I was greeted my the young lady at the front desk and she was great! She confirmed information and I sat in the waiting room. The nurse that called me back to do the eye exam was amazing her energy made me comfortable (I get anxious at doctors offices). Dr. Bustamante was much better to me. It took a long time to schedule this follow up appointment because I was anxious about going back to the office. I am glad I came back

I'm very sad to have to write this because Dr. Violet is absolutely wonderful! She is caring and thw only doctor that has actually taken steps to treat my dry eye. Unfortunately the staff at this location is a different story. I need to refill my prescription but the insurance needs prior authorization and they're not getting the paperwork to the insurance. I've called multiple times but never get a call back, it always leave a voicemail with Esther who i've been told is in charge of this. I decided to go in person but sadly the usual really nice and respectful front desk girl wasn't there. Instead i dealt with this aggressive older women who didn't care about the issues I was having and made 101 excuses for this Esther woman as to why my stuff wasn't done and why I wasn't getting a call back. She kept saying it was taken care of because something was sent the day before but she didn't even know what was sent so I'm not sure why she was protecting this woman so aggressively. I wanted to give her the web address the insurance gave me so she could send it to Esther but at first she didn't want to do it saying she has the info. If she has the info, why isn't it done? Not sure. She also kept saying there is no way of them knowing I needed the prior authorization but I'm calling and leaving voicemails so yes she did. By the end she started talking about how wonderful Esther is and honestly i don't understand the obsession. To this day I still haven't heard anything about the medication but I did get a bill later that day. The bill doesn't match anything I've paid or the insurance claims so I called to discuss it. Again, it goes to voicemail and no one calls back.

I really like Dr. Bustamante; however, the office is another thing. He does a wonderful job of treatment. Frankly, any practice making patients wait for over an hour is saying that you have a low regard for them and their time. If the idea is to pack them in and let them wait you're doing a good job. I don't say this out of ignorance about doctors's offices. My son is a doctor and his policy is if the patient has to wait over 15 minutes, he does not charge them their fee of $15-$20. I encourage you to show your patients the respect that they are due. I will add, however, that when doctors are held up because of emergencies, that is another thing Possibly apologize to the patient for keeping them waiting so long?

I've been to two different locations in the last months and both are spectacular. The staff, the locations, and the doctors (Dr. Fisher) are top notch. It's worth the hour drive to get this level of care.

I was thoroughly impressed by Dr. Bustamante. Finally-a Dr. who took the time to explain and make me feel heard and part of the plan. Thank you so much for all your research and expertise that you so eloquently shared. I highly recommend this provider if you have any kind of eye concerns.

I love Dr. Fisher and his staff. So friendly, so well trained. I would recommend this office to anyone with eye care needs. You know you are in the best hands here.

Receptionist was friendly and helpful. I see Dr. Bell he is wonderful, friendly, professional, he listen, and is knowledgeable. Nurse who check my eyes and dilate my eyes are friendly and patience. I've been with Dr Bell for a long time. Very popular clinic always full and busy. The wait time is about 15-20min to start, not bad. I would definitely recommend this clinic. Thank you

Everyone was extremely friendly. From the check-in to the tech to the actual doctor. There was just a lot of waiting. The place is super busy! And I was a little disappointed as at the end I went and picked out a pair of glasses, but there was only one person helping in that area and she had a client. It was going to take a while so I left without getting any new glasses started.
