South Texas Eye Institute - San Antonio Office

I went in for cataract surgery and had an excellent experience. Dr Marten did an excellent job and it was over fast. Dr Leon did an excellent job making sure I was OK and she is very friendly. I recommend South Texas Eye Institute for all Eye ailments.

Dr Marten is very, very good at what she does as is Dr Leon but the system of getting TO the docs is an incredibly frustrating and time wasting cattle call. When you arrive, there are signs everywhere that warn you they PLAN for you to wait 45 minutes to an hour before ever being called back. Then you are shuttled through an assembly line series of technicians with waits between every one before finally seeing a doctor. It's not so much the assembly line of techs; I get that, but planning up front to make all patients wait at least 45 minutes in the waiting room is just rude (I've had two cases where it took 2+ hours to be called from the waiting room). This lack of respect for customer time is consistent with every.. single... visit. They are pleasant and smile as they disrespect your time but disrespectful it still is. Again, I have great appreciation for the skill and professionalism of the docs and techs but the consistent extremely long wait before even starting built in to their business plan is ridiculous.

What's the point of making an appointment if we aren't going to be seen on time? Signage or no. Wife got called in they did brief test and then made us wait an hour. Glad to know what our money's worth, we just left, this is ridiculous.

Read Reviews and you will see that they don't honer your appointment time. They don't care and they let you waiting for hours with no professionalism. Many other better places to go to and for sure last time here. Take your business elsewhere if you want to be seen by a professional staff. We DONT recommend this place.

One star too much...haven't been seen here...for the reason that an appointment was made since September waiting for this appointment then in November it was rescheduled because of new insurance...Today I'm calling to confirm the appointment and they say they don't have me on schedule...the dr I am talking to them about is on vacation all Thanksgiving week...office didn't call me to reschedule or anything...I been needing to follow up with Dr because of inflammation on my eyes treatment after hospital...and even a referral was put in place for this appointment...a lack of communication and disregard to patients care! Waiting again for front office to call me...

Only 2 Stars because Doctors seem competent. The Staff, office manager, Everyone involved in scheduling, appointments, keeping the schedule and patients moving, you missed your calling at a DMV. No, actually they move faster. my appointment was scheduled TWO HOURS ago, still waiting. My last appointment was a one hour and 40 minute wait. This is ridiculous and pathetic. Don't come here expecting THEM to be on time. Stare at the floor and the walls.

If you value your time I would strongly encourage you to find another eye care provider. A quick snapshot of my experience. I arrived for my appointment approximately 15 minutes early to make sure I had enough time to complete all the paperwork. I then followed that by sitting in the waiting area for 2 hours while watching people that had arrived 30! Minutes to an hour after me. When I asked about the wait and why people that had just arrived were going in and I was still waiting I was told, "These Doctors are specialist and take more time so you have to wait and people have all different kinds of appointments so that's why they're not waiting." I watched people go back to get eye exams and come back, then go to see the doctor and I waited. Respecting the customers time is not a core value here. The waiting room had several people that had also been waiting for over an hour. An easy solution is to stop over scheduling and respect your patience time. Putting a sign up thar it will take three hours to finish an appointment doesn't justify it. Please let your potential patients know this while they are booking their appointment so they can avoid losing a whole afternoon like I did.

I am deeply disappointed with the handling of appointments at this clinic. It was extremely convenient for them to cancel my previously scheduled appointment and reschedule it for three months later. This practice demonstrates a profound lack of regard for the manner in which they handle their service to patients. I expressed my concerns about this matter to the staff member, but he did not demonstrate any empathy or understanding. He did not inquire in reference to the status of the need for service for this appointment or if there could be an option either. While I acknowledge the high demand for services in this region, it does not justify the disregard they have for one patient care.
