UT Medicine - Ophthalmology

We have waited months for our appointment this week, understanding that there are not a lot of Neuro Opthomologists in town. We were just notified the doctor will not be in the office the day of our appointment! They have rescheduled us for the next available appointment which is in June--4 months away!! This is ridiculous and frustrating. I am beyond disappointed and have lost confidence in the UT Health system. I'll be searching for another Neuro Opthomologist even if it means driving to another city. Google should provide a rating for negative stars because UT Health Opthalmology surely does not deserve even one star.

Horrible. 5 hour appointment when it should have only been an hour or less. I did not get seen by the Dr until 4 hours past my appt time. Totally ridiculous. They are trying to squeeze so many appts into the day that it causes them to run ridiculously behind. I was informed the appt would be short. My appt was at 115pm and I didn't leave until after 5pm which is when the office closes. And there was still at least 4 people waiting to be seen. They should inform their patients of the long wait. There was many elderly people waiting and I had 2 young children I had waiting with me. The Dr was nice and so was the staff but the wait time is unprofessional and inconsiderate.

Also experienced a 3 hour wait for a basic eye exam. Then, had one eye cataract surgery that should take about 15-20 minutes and was there for 7 hours. Was told by a nurse that University Hospital now runs UT's surgery (6th floor at Marc). "We are going to show UT how to make money". UT is a teaching hospital that used to be well regarded. Choose instead a well regarded (and recommended) private MD that excels in their practice and earns your trust everyday. Do your research, your well being depends on it.

I loved this place it was so fun being here. The building is so huge and awesome and it's unlike anything I've ever seen before. The staff were kind and helpful and look out for the people in the waiting room. It was my first time ever seeing an optometrist and they were super kind and it was some of the best customer service I've ever had! These are professionals here and they quickly found out what was wrong with my eye. I'll definitely be coming back here again! They were also able to answer many of the questions I had regarding my eye and the nice lady at the front made me feel better about myself after I found out what was wrong with my eye. The people there that day are just the best!

I have been with this practice for a while Today 5/09/25 was the worst Aside from the fact that they are not able to have my insurance cover my visits which I am paying hundreds per visit This practice have. O regard for people's time. I was there for two hours and only 30 minutes is actual treatment time

I have received superb care from the doctors and staff since the incident that sent me to UT Opthalmology in August of 2017. I cannot thank the department enough.

I have struggled with poor eyesight and inadequate vision correction most of my life. I have learned to trust the physicians at UT Ophthalmology so much that I had cataract surgery done. I can't believe that I don't have to wear glasses anymore and that my vision is stable now. I appreciate the staff here and all their hard work.

Due to my moving away from San Antonio since my last retina procedure, I drove 5 hours so that I could see someone where my records are, and because the specialist at that time was very good. Because of getting in the wrong building/parking garage, I ended up being 21 minutes late for my appointment. The doctor (Schaab) refused me. I immediately wondered if EVERYONE doesn't have to wait more than 21 minutes on her. They offered to work me in with a general doctor, but as it was getting late in the day, and I had a 5-hour drive home, and I have to do it basically with one eye closed, and I can't manage a drive like that in the dark, I just left. They absolutely didn't used to be like that.
