Optical Express Laser Eye Surgery, Lens Replacement Surgery, Cataract Surgery & Opticians: Manchester Trafford Centre

I booked an eye laser consultation online for last weekend. They called ahead to warn me not to drive because of the dilating drops and asked me to wear my glasses. However, they "forgot" to mention that I shouldn't wear contact lenses for at least 48 hours prior. When I arrived, I told them I'd had my lenses in just a few hours earlier. Despite this being well under the 48-hour limit, they proceeded anyway, told me I was a "perfect candidate," and tried to get me to book the surgery immediately. I only discovered the 48-hour rule myself by reading the booklet they sent me home with. It's very concerning that they prioritized a sale over following their own medical safety protocols.

Following an initial telephone consultation, I was asked why I required new lenses. I explained that it was solely for reading, as my long distance vision is 20/20. I was then advised to book an eye test in a few weeks' time, with the estimated cost being around PS2,000 per eye. However, five days before my scheduled appointment, I received a call from the Trafford Centre to confirm the booking. During that call, I was asked the same questions again about why I needed lenses, but this time I was told that the price had increased significantly to around PS3,000 per eye. This inconsistency was concerning, and I said that in light of the changing information, I wanted to cancel the appointment. Around five minutes later, I received another call informing me that because the appointment was so close, they would not allow me to cancel, and that if I didn't attend, I would be charged PS50, as they already had my card details. I felt pressured and, under protest, attended the appointment. When I arrived, I made it clear that I was unhappy about being misled on costs and being forced to attend unnecessarily, wasting my Saturday morning. I proceeded with the eye test, and I was told that I was suitable for the lenses. When I asked for a copy of my eye test results, I was informed that I would need to request them via email and that it would take up to a month to receive them, which I found unreasonable. The final outcome was that the surgery would actually cost PS8,200, far higher than any of the earlier figures I had been given. Unsurprisingly, I did not proceed. Overall, I was extremely frustrated by the misleading information, unprofessional behaviour, and poor communication throughout the entire process.

From start to finish my whole experience with it has been amazing. It's just great to walk around glasses or contact lens free and being able to see.I don't need to worry about getting dry eyes from wearing contact lenses.At my consultation,the clinic team explained my procedure and the consultant was brilliant,he was so lovely and so calm and just really reassuring me and put me at ease because I was so nervous.It's the best thing I've ever done. I would definitely recommend laser eye surgery at optical express. I can't fault anything they've done.They were friendly,very professional and helpful and it was a great experience to go through.

The process was made easy from start to finish! I'm 4 weeks post surgery and feel amazing. The world is brighter, clearer and I'm never going to need glasses or contact lenses ever again. Who wouldn't want that! All the information was readily available and no question was left unanswered. Thank you so much.

I couldn't recommend this more. The staff are so lovely and guide you through everything to make sure you are comfortable. It is one of the best things I have done, the visual freedom is such a nice feeling and my eyesight is better than with my glasses!

I had lense replacement eye surgery at Liverpool Exchange Station with aftercare at the Trafford Centre. This was to correct presbyopia with multi focal lenses. I'd previously had laser eye surgery to correct short sightedness. I'm seven weeks in and it's worked brilliantly. I'm glasses free again. The staff were lovely and put me at ease, I felt very safe and looked after. I would recommend this procedure.

Had laser lens replacement in 2017. Brilliant eyesight now. Had a check up yesterday and still have better than 20/20 vision. Highly recommend. Lovely staff and after care. My husband had his done too. We love not having to wear glasses.

My experience started pre operation with a terrible reaction to eye drops I was provided with, this was put down to the preservatives in them and I was then given preservative free. The staff were very nice, including the nurses and surgeon, and afterwards I was given preservative free drops for the post ocular lens replacement operation's recovery. One eye hurt more than the other during the operation, and I still experience a fair amount discomfort some 5 months post op. You get a check up every month for three months afterwards, and on the last one my left eye was that blurred I couldn't read even the top line of the letter board with it (previous check ups were good). I was then given brochures for potential further operation procedures which alarmed me immensely, as it had taken a lot for me to have someone messing with my eyes in the first place. I was told to make a further appointment for in one months time, and the guy on the desk said it should be free of charge, and he'd contact me.....he never did. I realised the day after my last appointment that I had been provided with, and used just prior to the appointment, eye drops that contained preservative. And I had a very bad reaction to them (understatement!) Surely it was on my notes that I should only be given preservative free? Some days later my eyes settled again. After a number of weeks of not hearing from the guy regarding the follow up appointment I called back to be told it may be chargeable and that if i didn't hear back again within two weeks to make contact again. I expressed my dismay at being having given the wrong drops and that I felt this had made my last appointment a non valid one due to the bad reaction, only to have him reiterate that it should be chargeable and to call back if not hearing from them in the previously mentioned two weeks. Here I am some six weeks later and I have heard nothing. What started out as something reasonably positive has now left me disappointed, still with discomfort in my left eye, and I question whether it was a good idea to have had it done. Sorry optical express, I feel let down
