Don't bother turning up on a Saturday without an appointment. After seeing an out of hours GP on Friday night with eye pain following oil being sprayed in my eye I was told I must go to the Eye Centre the following morning for a more comprehensive check. After a brief triage from a nurse where the minimum was asked I was promptly sent home and told to return on Monday if my symptoms persisted. Fortunately Specsavers could fit me in for an examination on short notice for a reasonable fee.

Misadvised at reception. However the Doctors were excellent. Ultra professional. Shame about some of the reception as most of them are ok just one or two rotten eggs ruin the omelette 8/10

Thank you so much to everyone for their help, support and professionalism when I attended twice (Saturday morning 1st November and Thursday afternoon 6th November) with concerns following my recent cataract operation elsewhere. I cannot thank and praise you enough!!

Mixed experience. The nurse on Saturday morning was really rude whereas the eye doctor was fantastic and really empathetic and professional: I've arrived after being told I could lose my sight.( I'd rang a helpline number ran by NHS the night before). I asked for an appointment but I was told to go to the outpatient department the next day. I was told I've got a possible detached retina. It's an emergency if it is.I'm nearly 60 and I still work full time and it's very difficult for me to get time off as I have children and families who depend on me. I was greeted by a nurse who had a horrible tone and berated me in front of everyone for daring to come without an appointment (I was told no need for an appointment). I was then triaged. I'm currently waiting but been told I might not even be seen today as they are too busy. I've come for opening time as I'm so worried about this eye problem. They told me to go to an optician! Absolutely ridiculous I'll just be referred back if it's a detached retina. I was told to come back Tuesday. I explained I can't just take time off, people depend on me. I'm also a blue light worker. They refuse to give me an appointment for next Saturday.The government is always trying to get people my age to stay in work but if I lose my sight it's not happening is it. I felt being made to choose between my health and letting people down who are in crisis........ After a long 2 hour wait I saw the doctor who accepted the appointment and she couldn't have been more helpful. She fully understand and explained what the problem was with my eyes and what to look out for. She did a thorough exam and identified a couple of problems. I wasn't made to feel like a burden and I was told I'd done the right thing by coming. Meanwhile the nurse on duty was loudly voicing her exasperation that took many walk in appointments had been accepted and she wouldn't get away on time. Make of that what you will. I felt it was very unprofessional indeed of the nurse.

Second time my Wife has been here and both times has been left waiting for two hours or more. Perhaps when you make the appointment an estimated length of stay should be stated.

I had a very good experience at the eye hospital. The receptionist was warm and welcoming, and the doctor was friendly and professional. I felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout my visit. Highly recommend this hospital for eye care needs!
