The reason I've given a one star review is based on the fire breathing dragon out front, she is literally the worst person I've met in a customer facing role in my life , runs the show like a prison , no welcoming nature, it's like I was an intruder in her living room, sour faced and unhelpful. I ordered a pair of spectacles from our companies corporate scheme and I asked about upgrading the lenses to a wider field of view , NO was the candid and unsympathetic response (not sure why) I tried to collect them on a Saturday walking 3 mile to do so to find it closed, I tried again today around lunch time and the shop was in darkness but I was within the hours displayed on the door, I rattled the door a few times and saw the office door open a crack then close, 30 seconds later it appeared stomped to the door to tell me it was her lunch hour (no give in her she looked quite proud of herself telling me) I explained this was the second time I'd tried and wouldn't be doing so a third time, I was enraged, I pointed to a bin in the corner told her my name and to put the glasses in the bin as I wouldn't be back. By the way the optician who tested my eyes was fabulous, knowledgeable professional and helpful (the polar opposite of her out front.

Had my first visit to Thompson Opticians today, can't recommend it enough, from the friendly receptionist who took the time to double check my details, to the lovely optician who was friendly very thorough and helped put my mind at rest over a couple of issues, a very calm relaxed examination, no hard sell like you sometimes get in bigger companies. Extremely professional will definitely be using in all my future eye exams or for any other worries I may have in the future.

Met with a lovely, friendly Scottish receptionist, i was immediately seen to for my eye test (which i passed with flying colours). The Optician was friendly, professional and quick but thorough. I was sent on my way without being asked to sign up for gold memberships or any other junk mail gathering service. I would recommend this to anyone.

The lady at the front is one of the most depressing people ive ever met in my life, I asked her a query and she didn't even look up or care she just gave me a generic response to get me out of the shop, ive never seen someone hate their life as much as this lady does.

Received a warm welcome as a new customer. The staff were really helpful and friendly.
