Scott Yeates

We really like Dr. Yeates. I specifically sought him out for his extensive training and accomplishments, but didn't realize he'd be the perfect fit for our child's specific eye condition: one with which Dr. Yeates has extended knowledge and training for. I like that he's got a scribe in the room recording notes and helping the appointment to move efficiently. I like that the check ups are thorough and that options for care are provided for how to proceed. You do need to be involved by asking good questions and asking for additional information if you don't fully understand. Dr. Yeates did do an emergency appointment for us once with thirty minutes notice and that was very reassuring. I prefer the early appointments as the office gets busy as the day progresses. If you have troubles with billing (we did,) simply call and make sure insurance details are correct and they'll fix it right away. Their eyeglass salespeople will happily fit your child for glasses and then you can shop for them elsewhere if you want a better price as insurance does not cover glasses there.

Worst experience ever. Went in with the expectation of just a check up, but he added multiple undiscussed tests that added significant extra costs without telling us. He didn't do a scan of our daughter's eyes or ask what she could or couldn't see, then said "let's try glasses it might help her wandering eye, I don't know." We left the office with a prescription for glasses, no real treatment plan, and more questions than we came with that he kept giving vague answers to. Then we get a bill a few weeks later for $800+ even though they said they'll take our insurance and the check-up would be covered. We even checked with the receptionist before the appointment and they told us it would be covered as a standard check up. He seemed so unconfident in the treatment plan that we didn't get her glasses and now a year later her eyes resolved themselves. Super glad we didn't follow his advice and ruin her eyes with unnecessary glasses! After telling our referring pediatrician about the experience, he said they've had multiple similar problems with this provider. Schedule at your own risk, will probably need a second opinion anyways.
