I just called here asking for glasses or sunglasses for migraines/light sensitivity that I could buy from their store and she said that they'd have to make them. I said that's kind of weird... I never knew of a store not to have any stock of any type of non-prescription glasses and she said it's actually pretty normal. Actually it's not. She didn't have to be so condescending. I would've been willing to bring my husband there as he suffers from severe prostrating migraines and needs the glasses. I was just trying to see if I could buy something today in the meantime. Glasses or Sunglasses that have those rose tinted FL Lenses or comparable. She was very condescending. EXTREMELY ACCUALLY! I guess my accent was too "ethnic," to actually be understood.

They're awesome. Friendly, great service, nicer frames than anywhere else. If they're not in-network for your vision plan, they'll help you submit. They're worth it.

I have been coming to Voorthuis for glasses and contacts over 10 years and they have been wonderful.The new optometrist Dr. Figler is personable and extremely thorough. I recommend Voorthuis Old Town to anyone who needs eye care.

Dr. Figler was terrific. The best I've been to in the area. He is thorough, patient and very knowledgeable. I can see so much better with my new contacts! I'll be recommending him to my friends and family.

I didn't get glasses from here but stopped in to get my sunglasses adjusted and a really nice gentleman helped me. Great customer service. I'll definitely back when my eyeglass prescription needs to be renewed.

The staff has all been working there a long time and they work great together. When we entered, one out front was busy with another customer and immediately called to her colleague to help us. We'd made an appointment for exams and there was no wait. The doctor was very experienced and moved through the exam quickly but was engaging and I never felt rushed to decide between "number 1 or number 2" as he switched lenses. Plus, I was really pleased that there was absolutely no pressure to buy lenses or frames (I bought neither as my prescription hadn't changed very much). Overall, a great experience.

I just uprooted myself to move from NY city to Alexandria for health reasons. Not easy to start from scratch looking for a new team of docs--especially when elderly and ailing. I am delighted to have found Dr Tunis, who I found to be personable, knowledgeable and very thorough. He took the time to discuss every aspect of my medical history and get to know me before starting the actual exam. I felt listened to and cared about. The office manager was very patient, working with me to find the perfect frames -- not only to fit my face but also to reflect my personality. I can't wait to pick up and show off my new magenta glasses! I found the whole experience to be absolutely great. I love that this is a family practice that has endured for many years. I can understand why they have thrived!

I saw Dr. Figler today for a same day appointment due to eye issues. The office got me in within an hour and a half- and the doctor was awesome and thorough and friendly. Great customer service and experience all around.
