Positive: Doctor Katira was personable and nice
Negative: Took 2 hour and 45 min from check-in to see the doctor. No communication whatsoever and you just wait from one area(initial tests) to another. Didn't feel like a healthcare facility, felt like I was waiting at DMV.
My eye doctor referred me to this place and would not recommend this place to my friends/family. Your time is too valuable.

Great experience today at The Retina Group of Washington. Very smooth experience from scheduling the appt to the end. Staff i found very nice and my tech was so wonderful. He eased me through any concerns throughout all of the imaging. Be sure to be prepared for the dilation, as your vision will be impacted for a few hours. Dr. Katira was super kind, very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly so that I could understand. She also provided a great pamphlet to take home and read up on it. Fantatic experience at the Alexandria location.

I strongly advise everyone to avoid this clinic -- it's extremely unprofessional, and the staff lack even the most basic sense of respect and human decency toward their patients. The front desk employees, in particular, need serious retraining in how to communicate with people. Even worse, they might send your file to collections for the smallest and most trivial reasons -- without even contacting you -- even if the amount is as little as twenty dollars! What's strange is that when I decided to leave this clinic and switch to another healthcare provider, I asked for my medical file -- but to my surprise, they demanded a $16 payment along with a bunch of unnecessary bureaucratic procedures. On top of that, one of the staff members I spoke to on the phone was clearly rude and unprofessional.

I was treated very poorly by the woman at the front desk and the office manager. Jose, John and Bryson are awesome. They have imaging that other retina specialists in the area do not, and I highly recommend Dr. Katira in particular. The on-call physicians I have spoken with have been great at explaining things to me. Dr. Chen was not as great at explaining anything, and the laser surgery she did was so painful that I wanted her to just kill me when she was only a quarter of the way through. I have a high threshold for pain.

I agree with the other reviewers here in regards to the lack of professionalism by the receptionist. She was short and snappy. I'm not even a patient! I was getting bombarded with appointment tasks/reminders even after texting back: "You have the wrong contact". I could have blocked them but then I felt bad for the patient who might miss his appointment so I called in to let the office know.

Bryson was absolutely awesome today. It was my first visit to RGW. On a scale from 1 to 10, Bryson gets a 10+. Everyone was so kind and pleasant to be serviced by. So delighted to have meet all of them. Dr Sheng was extremely informative and through in his exam.

Everyone at the practice has been kind and professional, both in person and during appointments. While it can be challenging to reach the surgical coordinators at times, I would still recommend this practice--especially for anyone dealing with abnormal eye conditions. Despite the long wait times, the quality of care makes it worth it.

Dr. Byrnes is professional in every sense of the word, from his expertise and ability to explain my complicated condition to me, to his surgical work, which resulted in a huge improvement in my vision and saved me from losing the sight in my eye. He is also a very nice person, taking time to talk about things in the greater detail that I like to consider. Jose in the office is also very helpful and caring; he spent time on a late Friday helping me understand the office computer system so I could use it for a procedure I had been trying to do. RGW rocks -- I've used them for several years and highly recommend them!
