Jamie C. Simmers, OD

I have been seeing Dr. Simmers for 20 years now. He is the most straight forward and honest Dr. I know. I have introduced my mother to him who in turn other family members have become his patients. It is a busy office that's true. But when you find a genuinely EXCELLENT optometrist who tells you the truth and capable of correcting your vision. YOU HOLD ON TO THAT GEM! I have moved an hour and half away from his office... I will DRIVE to keep an appointment. He's THAT terrific!!

I have no problem with the physician or the medical assistant. The secretary is however in the wrong line of work and the most rude, short customer service rep I have ever met. I have no idea how she has remained employed knowing the complaints that come their way about her. Unfortunately that's who you have to deal with on a regular basis. This is why I see the doctor and get my glasses and contacts filled at Walmart. I don't have to deal with her unless absolutely necessary.

This place has no customer service at all. My husband stopped by b/c the screw that holds his lens in place is stripped and it wants to keep falling out. It takes all of 5 minutes to fix such a thing for any optician/optometrist worth their salt. The receptionist was completely ridiculous. She asked if my husband could leave his glasses there b/c it would take an HOUR! When he said 'well I can't drive without them and I can't really walk without them' she repeated the question. When he said no, she asked if he had a spare pair of glasses and when he said 'not with me' she repeated that it would take an hour and there was nothing she could do. They weren't busy, they were just useless. Do not go here!

5 stars only because, of the young woman who assesses you before the doctor enters the room. Very nice and showed concern and empathy. And of course Dr. J Clay Simmers. Wonderful doctor. . Wish I could say the same about the appt setter/ receptionist.From making the appt over the phone to the physical visit, she is still the same. She's not welcoming in any way shape or form. I was about to purchase a second pair of glasses. But she wouldn't even get up from behind the desk. Too busy popping her bubble gum and fixing her already done-up for a night on the town appearance.Non professional appearance. I said let me just go to Walmart for the glasses. Walmart eye specialist were the first to refer me to Shenandoah Optical, great doctor above and beyond high praises!!! But never eludded saying the receps aren't very friendly...She was right..I will still come back for the 2 people I mentioned early...The doc and young woman #In just being honest I worked in the customers service/receptionist field for several several years. You'll be amazed at what patience and just being nice will do... It gets you loyal and happy consumers. ...No matter their race sex and origin...

Run, don't walk....away from this place immediately! If the spiders and cobwebs in the exam room don't scare you off, then Jamie's trifling and asinine attitude will!

Dr. Simmers is the best most through and wise Optometrist. I would recommend him to everyone!

Everyone was wonderful. Had an exam and ordered new glasses. Very pleased.
