Avakian Arpenik MD

I've been to see Dr. Avakian a number of times and feel lucky I was referred to her. She knows her job well. I have read all the reviews and agree with all the great ones. I think it's possible some of the negative ones may be people who want to control the visit or perhaps want to tell her their life medical story and what they've read on the internet ("yes, but I've read that if..."), etc. For the sake of the other patients waiting patiently for her, including me, the fact that she deals with things efficiently doesn't bother me. When she needs me to understand something, or ask me something, she is patient. I think she's great.

We take my grandmother to a lot of eye appointment. And I can say this is hands down the best eye doctor in the area. She is straight forward, to the point, and incredibly thorough. She has helped my grandmother in ways no other doctor has been able to. She is also very thorough with her descriptions and explains everything as it is happening.

Dr. Avakian saved my vision 13 or 14 years ago when i was just a young dumb 19 years old avoiding treatment to my retinal condition for months. I never thanked her enough that she was blunt that she convince me i need treatment right away and she were able to preserve my retina without surgical procedure despite my retinal damage. She is straight and to the point and I found her quite funny as well.

Having read some of the reviews on here, I felt compelled to leave my own: Dr. Arpenik is very to the point, she does not sugar coat things, some people seem to have taken this as her being rude, but she isn't, she's being very clear and informative about your vision. She performed sugery on my right eye to fix a retinal tear and my vision has been perfect in that eye ever since, she knew I was nervous about it and made sure to answer all of my questions about it. Her staff is also very friendly and have always treated me well, however you might have a hard time finding time to talk to them as their office is always busy, they have a lot of patients to take care of. If you're in the area and need an opthalmologist, you'll find no one better. I've always told my family this about this office: I dislike coming here because of the nature of my visits, but I enjoy my time in the office when I am there, they really make me feel like they care about me and my eyes.

Dr. Avakian and her staff are amazing and wonderful. Her expertise and knowledge in vitrectomy are beyond expectations. She is a matter of fact and to the point. But she is also super busy with patients and traveling back and forth between the office and surgeries - which is a great sign of her expertise and success. Glad I found her!!

Dr. Avakian is skilled and serious about preventive eye care. I came to her not knowing I had a retinal tear (tears, actually). She initially was very direct and severe in her assessment, and she took immediate corrective/restorative action, dong a laser procedure that very day to re-attach (successfully) the separated retinal tissue. I came to realize that she wanted to be certain I understood the severity of my condition and the need for caution and timely attention. As my treatment progressed, we developed a mutually appreciative, even fun, relationship. She is "no nonsense" but she has a great sense of humor and I appreciate her as much personally as professionally. As my treatment progressed and the frequency of visits declined, she at one point told me that I would not need to see her again for year, and that in the interim, I would be in an "Avakian-Free Zone". She is simply terrific across the board.

I am seeing her for retinal deterioration due to diabetes. She has the knowledge and Equipment to provide exhaustive treatment. Her staff are courteous and kindly. Also, she has received recognition from the Seattle medical community for excellence. None better.

She made me feel like I made a huge mistake for scheduling appointment with her to seek advice! and my specialist transferred me to her. Moreover when I tried to discuss with her my concerns and I mentioned some medical terms, her reply was completely unprofessional and she commented that I am one of those patients who look through the internet and read something about their condition without having scientific knowledge and consequently missed up!? When she is the one who is totally missed up by mentioning two peices of medical information wrong l! She supposed to say I don't know when she is not sure because it's medical Ethics first of all , second of all she never knows if she is seeing patients who have a huge medical background and higher credentials than hers. She is completely unprofessional and she also has terrible manners.
