Life-changing care and unmatched precision I've been a patient of Dr. Kinney's for over 20 years -- and it's long overdue that I write a review. I first learned about her in my 50s, when I happened to meet someone at a gathering who told me Dr. Kinney had saved her vision -- she had been going blind, and Dr. Kinney's care literally saved her vision. That conversation stayed with me, and I immediately made an appointment. I'm so glad I did. At the time, I was dealing with constant eye strain from computer work and frequent headaches caused by even the slightest error in my glasses prescription. A previous ophthalmologist had recommended bifocals, but I didn't fill that prescription -- I knew something wasn't right. Dr. Kinney took a completely different approach. She carefully evaluated whether I was a good candidate for vision therapy, and I began sessions with Peggy. After just 10 sessions, my vision improved significantly -- and I never did need bifocals. Even more remarkable: my vision has continued to improve over the years, thanks to Dr. Kinney's thoughtful care. And she is the only ophthalmologist I've ever seen who consistently gets my prescription exactly right. I haven't had a single headache due to an incorrect Rx since becoming her patient. That level of precision, for someone like me, is everything. She listens, evaluates thoroughly, and gets it right every time. Dr. Kinney and her exceptional team are a rare find. I am forever grateful to her and her staff for their exceptional work and genuine care for me as a patient. Their work has had a lasting, profoundly positive impact on my life.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this practice for vision therapy. I was a vision therapy patient here for approximately 6 months. While all the staff were kind and well-intentioned, and I liked them personally, my experience was deeply frustrating and did not fix my vision issues. This experience prolonged my suffering for years because it did not fully and adequately treat my vision issues. This clinic is very old-school. They were still using paper medical records and hand written receipts at the time I was there. It was very difficult to coordinate with them around insurance issues, adding another layer of stress to my situation. They really could have gone to bat in advocating for me, and didn't. I also found their policies to be punitive and paternalistic. They charged in full for planned absences if you missed an appointment - and required you to do a make up appointment. This is just not realistic for the average person to never miss a session, and added to the already significant financial stresses of paying for care. Their VT treatment methods really aggravated my symptoms, and I would spend hours or even days after appointments with headaches, nausea, and pain. My vision therapist didn't adjust my therapy to suit my specific needs, despite my constant feedback that activities made me very symptomatic. They pushed me way beyond what my system could handle, which was deeply counterproductive in the long run. My vision issues caused chronic pain. My vision therapist did not listen to me about my pain, even suggesting it was in my head. They were flummoxed that my pain wasn't improving with VT, since everyone else's pain did. I tried to get them to collaborate with another provider who was helping me with my pain and they discounted the other provider's feedback and even claimed to have one of the same credentials (they didn't). Eventually, after nearly six months, the provider admitted they did not know how to address my pain and that they couldn't help me. I was so demoralized after seeing them that it took another year to work up the courage and emotional energy to look for another VT provider. My new provider, confirmed that my vision issues were not resolved, and in one respect, over-corrected by my prior VT, creating a new problem. Additionally, Dr. Kinney's office failed to diagnose several of my vision issues. I had to pursue a second, much longer round of VT with my new clinic, at significant additional cost and time commitment. My new provider has indicated I am not the only patient they have had from Dr. Kinney's office coming to them needing additional treatment. I see from other reviews other people had positive experiences here, and I am glad for that. However, I cannot recommend this practice based on my experience.

Everyone in this office is a true expert and professional - diagnosis, vision therapy, scheduling, billing, insurance, etc. The entire staff is wonderful to interact with and truly caring about you. I have been seen by many vision providers and offices in the greater Seattle area, and can without hesitation say Dr. Kinney's office should be your first stop.

Dr. Kinney was very helpful with assessing my needs and listening to my concerns. I appreciated the thorough testing and her helpful info on accommodation spasm and vertical misalignment. The atmosphere in the office is quiet and calm.

My husband and I have been patients for 10+ years. We find Dr. Kinney to be professional with knowledge of the newest technology. She and her office staff are the best: caring and yet professional. Appointments are always on time with no waiting in little rooms to "see the doctor". Great downtown location, near all sorts of great shops and restaurants and plenty of parking lots nearby.

Dr. Kinney is an expert in her area! She is very knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. She listens to you, takes the time to understand your concerns and comes up with the best solutions. Highly recommend her!

My husband and I have come to see Dr. Kinney for a number of years. We appreciate her thoroughness and both her and her staff are very affable and knowledgable, making one feel very comfortable before and after glass fittings etc.

We've been going to the Dr. Kinney for ten years, ever since our daughter needed eye therapy. The entire staff is consistently helpful and caring, making getting our eyes checked every year a pleasure.
