I was very impressed with Dr Ma. The office had to fit me in for an emergency evaluation of a retinal condition about which I am quite anxious. Even tho I was not on his original schedule, and his day was quite busy, he was unfailingly gracious and gentle. He explained the stage of my condition very well and made certain I understood everything well. He answered all my questions with sensitivity and expertise. He made me feel very relaxed and I am very pleased with the care I received. He is a delightful person and I have the utmost faith in his expertise. Just a great combination of character and expertise!

I would not recommend this retina specialist clinic.
I've been dealing with ongoing eye issues for months, and my experience here has been extremely frustrating and concerning. There appears to be a lack of proper documentation regarding my eye pressure, medication effects, and prescriptions. I repeatedly felt that important details about my care were not being recorded or followed up on appropriately.
I also had difficulty obtaining my own medical records and only received them after firmly asserting my rights under HIPAA. That process should never be that hard.
When I raised concerns about medication side effects, I felt dismissed and gaslit rather than supported. There was little to no explanation provided about potential side effects ahead of time, and no accountability when issues came up.
On top of that, the front desk staff were consistently rude and unprofessional, which was surprising given the Bellevue location.
Overall, this experience made an already stressful medical situation much worse.

When arriving at my Eye Appointment with Dr. Nicolaas DeRuyter, I was Greeted with a Warm Welcome while Checking In. All of the Technicians were very nice & respectful. The Doctor asked if I had Questions .I explained my concerns & if there were other Medication I will be needing. All of my Questions were Answered which was a great relief for me as Dr was happy with my progress Awesome Visit. Thanks for all the care and support I received.

Knowledeble, informative but oversold my elderly mother on a clinical trial that really was not a good solution for her. The currently available treatment info got lost in the excessive discussion on the trial. All of this ended up delaying treatment for my mother - was not pleased with that sales pitch, nor was my mother in the end.
