So far, this experience has not been great for my family. I tried to call and schedule an appointment with Kirkland Specialty Eye to get my son seen. The lady I spoke with first said she couldn't schedule the appointment without the referral, no big deal I understood that and made sure the clinic received the referral. That took 5 calls to get the appointment schedule. Then they called the day before and had an appointment opening for yesterday. When I confirmed that he was being seen for the test he needed the lady wasn't sure and said she'd call me back. She didn't call back, so I called again hours later and spoke to the front desk. The front desk was unsure if it was scheduled correctly and promised me, she would call back before the end of the day. She never called back. I went to the appointment in the morning, and the front desk said she still wasn't sure. I then spoke with the manager Kari and she apologized and said we could get the test done. We did the test he needed with Dr. Kristi and Genevieve. They dilated my son's eyes, there was a bit of a wait after his eyes were dilated but was told he needed surgery. They said they would get him a referral and call around to see who could handle that. I called Children's Hospital this morning and they said they could do it. When I called back Specialty eye to get the referral sent to Children's, the office manager Kari said that the referral was never made. That she couldn't tell me when it would be done and was not willing to ask David or Kristi when the referral could be made. She then hung up on me. From my perspective, I'm just trying to get my son the care he needs. They are not making him a priority nor have any customer care. Typically, a referral is made on the same day. I would advise parents to take their children to another doctor where care is the priority, the people scheduling the appointments are knowledgeable and customer service is a lot better. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else.
I wanted to give them higher ratings, but I just can't. I went to them for the purpose of dry eye evaluation and also went with lipiflow treatment. I've been to both Seattle and Bellevue office, both just don't show enough professionalism.
1) When asking for a prescription refill, they took more than a week! to send it to pharmacy, even with me following up with them through texts SEVERAL times. Oh don't expect them to get back to your text within a day, that just wouldn't happen. And did I mention they sent to the wrong pharmacy after a week's texts back and forth? Finally I just had to call them and verified everything again.
2) The doctors aren't professional enough. With the dry eye evaluation, they just don't tell you the test results in details. I've no idea if the lipiflow really helps except believing that it.just.works. And a year after the lipiflow, they'll ask you to pay out-of-pocket to do evaluation again (and also didn't tell you the test results), and they'd suggest you do lipiflow AGAIN! Did I mention lipiflow is $1250 out-of-pocket??
3) This year I also got new glasses from them. While I agree they do have enough selections and good frames, their optician just sucks. I had to came in a week later to ask them for frame adjustment again. But after several attempts, they just CAN'T get it right. The frame still doesn't sit on my nose well. They also seemed to get impatient, so I didn't feel comfortable staying longer and waiting for them to try minor adjustments again and again, which just can't get it fix correctly. I had to go to another place to have it adjusted AGAIN.
Sadly, I've given them enough chances. And I'm seeing their online reviews getting worse and worse, so I would not come back after staying with them for more than a year.
I had a great experience at the downtown Specialty Eyecare Group. I saw Dr. Katherine Shen for an eye infection. She was very attentive, knowledgeable, and thorough, and was able to diagnose the issue right away. With the treatment she prescribed the infection cleared up within a couple of days. The follow up visit two weeks later was also great. Dr. Shen was very attentive and took time to answer my questions. The front desk staff and the technician were extremely friendly and helpful as well. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a place with a great eye doctor and great service!
I was one of their patient who spent $2,200 last year for sleep lenses. I got a letter saying that I no showed at my appointment yesterday - I made an appointment with them few months back. And before my appointment, no curtesy notice was sent. NO TEXT NO EMAIL, and when I asked for proof that they sent me notice, they said they CALLED ONCE and they left no voice message. And yet they say in the letter that they "value me as a patient", and they sent "multiple reminders in advance". Guess what, they could have do that to make money, 75 bucks per customer! Ain't that great! Be my guest to go there and get blackmail all you want, and plus you get to be blamed for something that is their fault; I ain't gonna spend a dime anymore, and I ain't going to schedule no appointment
Make sure you realize that they charge 75 dollars to move your appointment within 24 hours and they are suuuper strict about that. Things like this should be illegal. Never coming back again.
Had my first eye exam 20 years post-lasik. Staff was friendly, efficient, and made me feel at ease. Would reccommend.
The staff is slow, 2 hrs for appointment that the patient was early for. There is no common courtesy for someone elses time.
Very friendly and will help you make the right choice!!!
