Worst customer service!! Both Jared (receptionist) and Colin (nurse) were rude and short on the phone. I had a referral and was in an emergency situation, and I did not get a call back from the clinic for 7 days after submitting all the requested information. Ill never spend my money with an institution like this.
I cannot say enough about how Amazing my Ophthalmologist from here is. She has been Absolutely Incredible in my eye health and helping getting both my eyes to be healthy!!! I have several eye diseases from having type 1 diabetes and she has gotten my eyes to get under control. Soon, I will Not even need Glasses any longer!
Longest waiting times ever. Arrived at 10. Waited past 12 to be seen by doctor for an appointment that is supposed to be 20 minutes. This is unacceptable.
Worst nightmare. Urgent referrals take months to be addressed. Complete waste of time. Needed to go into the ER to actually get a referral and have waited 2 months and they can't take care of my "urgent" referral yet. A total joke. Stay away
Medical staff was mostly friendly and helpful. NO PARKING. It took me 15 minutes to find a place to park that was far away from building. Neuro ophthalmologist I saw was great, answered all my questions. Caring and competent provider.
UW medicine in general and UW ophthalmology seem to consistently provide poor scheduling support and clinic access. I received a text from UW Ophthalmology on September 12 letting me know a referral has been received from my kid's provider. After waiting several weeks to get some kind of call, I called them where I was told by a general scheduler not the clinic itself that they are busy and will get to it when they can.
From a patient prespective, I don't care how busy they are or what their internal processes/issues. My child's doctor felt it was important for him for be followed up.
On October 25th, having still to receive a follow up call to schedule his appointment, I called the UW Eye Center only to be connected to another general scheduler who put me on hold to talk to the clinic as "it was complicated". Once I was connected to the clinic, I was told by the clerk that they needed to reach out to my son's eye doctor to get his records and when I asked when I should follow-up, I was told they are very busy and receive a lot of referrals.
I explained to the clerk that from a patient side it is irrelevant how busy they are and their administration needs to figure it out. She curtly thanked me and ended the call.
So now I have to wait until they get the records and "get back to me". So let me get this straight, I would have been waiting almost two months before actually being scheduled. How is this acceptable and why does the UW continue to function under this attitude?
Maybe the doctors at this place are great, but I wouldn't know.
I've had 2 different doctors (1 ophthalmologist; 1 primary) put in 3 urgent referrals, however, I've been waiting since the 9th to even receive a callback from them. When I tried reaching out to them, the person that answered the phone just argued with me, and stated that they had no referrals for me, even though I can see them in MyChart. Once they finally acknowledged they had a referral, they stated that it was received on the 16th, and that it was in medical review and they'd call me when completed. That was over a week ago. MyChart shows that they closed the previous referrals to make it look like it hasn't taken them as long as it has to even acknowledge me.
So, in the meantime, for over a month now, I've had an extremely red eye, that I haven't been able to see anything out of, except for blurs & colors. Also, my pupil won't dilate, and apparently the only doctors that can help me, or even tell me what's wrong with my eye, are at this place, but the odds feel higher that I'll lose my eye before I ever get to see anyone here.
Oh, and the first time I called this office, I spent 2 hours on hold, and never got ahold of anyone. Had to try again the next day.
Like I said, the doctors may be excellent, but they are either too busy, or too incompetent to care.
I search every where to have my cataract surgery done and I just want to say the team at UW eye institute was amazing. DR Eric Duerr did a amazing job of performing the surgery and his team was great. I also want to thank nurse Carmen Adams who got the ball rolling and push for me to get the surgery much sooner then anticipated. Thank you all and I highly recommend UW eye institute. My eyes are doing well and I'm am very pleased with the results.
