Tara Starr MD- East Bay Eye Associates

I had an emergency about a month ago where my cat scratched my eye and I had to go to the ER. They contacted Dr Starr and she opened up her office to see me right away, since it was a weekend. I don't know what would've happened if I didn't see her - i wholeheartedly believe if not for her I would've been in bad shape. She was able to fix my lasik flap and put it back in place. When I went to the corneal specialist on Monday they were so impressed with what she was able to do in her office. On top of that she was kind and empathetic. She continued to encourage me and kept my outlook positive that everything would ultimately be ok. I've had a surgery so far after that and am slowly getting better but if not for what she did that day I know I would've had a longer road to recovery

Dr. Starr is a wonderful doctor and a compassionate provider who has been following my complex condition for 20 years, and I have been stable thanks for the treatments and state of the art equipment and her expertise. I also had cataracts removed and I have had no need for glasses since my surgery 10 years ago! I'm a vivid reader so this is huge for me. The staff is top notch, respectful and knowledgable . I never had an issue with their billing company, ever! I have referred family and friends to Dr. Starr and they have been very happy as well.

I can honestly say choosing Dr. Tara Starr as my Optomologist was one of the best decisions I've made. She is professional and an excellent surgeon. Dr. Starr removed my cataracts and surgically implanted a corrective lense in both eyes. My current vision is excellent and I'm extremely satisfied with the results. I would also like to express the level of care and professionalism administered was top notch. I will definitely be referring my family, friends and colleagues to her.

I wish I could give Dr. Starr many more than the maximum of 5 stars for her exceptional skills and knowledge of the field, together with a pleasant, caring persona. Within the past 12 months, I have had cataract removal from both eyes with excellent results and minimal apprehension. My eyesight is now far better than ever before, in fact it is perfect! Being 68 years old, I have seen many doctors in the Bay Area over the years for my own health issues and for my spouse, children, and grandchildren, but Dr. Starr surpasses all others by far in her personal involvement with the patient's concerns for wellness. As she is very generous with the time and attention given to all in her practice, it is to be expected that her office schedule may not always run like clockwork. To me, that is a very small price for the superb quality of care provided by Dr. Starr.

The scheduling team is a mess. I confirmed they have time for next week, they asked me to go get a referral letter, I asked my doctor for it and sent it within 24h, they told me they now have no more time for 3 weeks. I also spoke with 3 different people who all don't know what the other person said except notes they wrote for one another. Pure administrative hell. And this was all within 1-2 days, it's not like I called days apart. Edit: this place just won't own a mistake. I cannot see, I cannot drive or do anything. I was in urgent need and so I had to get care in a short time frame. If you are only available 90 days out, communicate that and I will thank you and move on. But you gave inaccurate info, told me you could see me, then told me you can't. I did not demand you see me in a short window without checking with your clinic first. It was a waste of everybody's time. Own your scheduling team's mistake and poor communication. If it was the same person I was talking to all the time they wouldn't have all been so confused and not know what I was talking about. If you're arguing that's standard, no it's not. I found another clinic who told me they could see me, asked for a referral, and DID see me like they said, within 2 weeks.

I already left a long review for her office in lafayette but since I was seen in both places , I feel compelled to also share my thoughts here about Dr Tara Starr. She performed a double cataract surgery , implanted some amazing tri focal lenses that gave to both my eyes a perfect vision . I am so happy with the result ! I have to add that besides being extremely professional , she is the most sweet and caring doctor I had the pleasure to work with. She even managed my anxiety very well , I always had questions and she was always very generous with her time . Being seen in both offices, I also want to add that all the people working there are very helpful. Thank you Dr Starr for being the best ! It was a pleasure to be in your care Nadine Samuels

I strongly recommend dr Star. Having been her patient for several years- as well as my husband- I trust her to take good care of my eyes and of me. I appreciate her competence as well as her kindness, knowing that she always tries to help in every way. I had two cataract surgeries from her, as did my husband, and want to give her the highest rating possible.

Dr. Tara Starr embodies all the qualities of a great physician: Dr. Starr is highly skilled, compassionate and caring, reassuring, attentive and responsive to her patients' needs and concerns, and, again, highly skilled. She has saved my eyesight. I cannot say enough good things about her!!!
