review from my first visit.
I suggest ignoring the reviews complaining about waiting, that's typical in America's health system. They told me to expect a two hour visit and that's what happened 9:30 - 11:30 to do all the imaging/testing and talking to Dr.
Front desk: pleasantly greeted and guided through everything, even answered questions my relative had about their own problems.
Technicians: good people skills, very patient and detailed about what they are doing and guides you through each machine and what it does.
Doctor: I met with Dr. Howard Chen, he is very direct, facts based, and realistic about explaining my condition, and how to treat it, whether or not treatment is needed, and if I should do the treatment at various severity levels.
Reccomend you bring your own sunglasses, they can only provide a disposable one ( similar to paper ones for watching the eclipse ).
I waited 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment without any explanation or update. When I asked the front desk for clarification, they were unable to provide a reasonable answer or an estimated wait time. Given the lack of communication and transparency, I chose to cancel my appointment and will be seeking care elsewhere.
appointment at 3 - at 3:30 I inquired as to how long more as I was paying a driver due to eye dilation. They weee running late coz the Dr was late from surgery. No idea how long it was going to be. I get that things can run late but call the patients so they can make adjust. I had to leave and make another appointment but when I went outside other customers said this was typical and they would not recommend - I should have read reviews!
Very consistent performer, you will always waited for hours before get treatment. The only spot light is the technicians are well trained. Front desk staffs are about average. There is one time, I came for an early morning appointment only to know the doctor is out of office on the spot but I even received an appt reminder email 24 hours prior to my appointment. The dr does not always answer your question, he makes you feel like you are talking to a wall. At least we know the retina specialist is hard to come by if they are still in business.
I have seen my doctor here for months. I receive an injection every 6 weeks. The staff and doctor have been wonderful. I have to have numerous tests and pictures taken of my eyes before each injection. These take time, but are done with care. People who complain about waiting are usually complaining about most things in their life. I couldn't be happier with my care.
The main issue with this medical practice is the wait time. The doctor that performed the procedure, Dr. He, is very knowledgeable and confident in her practice. However, each time we come to the clinic the wait is at LEAST two hours long. They have an issue of over scheduling and have no regard to people's time. Our appointment is scheduled for 2 pm and we don't see the doctor until after 4:30 pm. It's very unprofessional and inexcusable to have patients and their families spend all day here for a follow up appointment. There is NO patient centered care here. At the very first appointment we had, we received a lot of eye rolls, attitude, and passive aggressiveness because we were asking a lot of questions. It's as if as soon as they enter the room they have a time limit so don't you dare ask questions because you're taking too much of their time.
The front and billing department are extremely unprofessional for not letting me know whether or not I may owe them $ at my appointments until after the fact. When I confronted them about it turns out the front and billing department don't work together! So if you have any insurance questions, the front will not know- only their manager. Also Beverly from the billing department hung up on me mid-conversation! I may have liked Dr. Chow and his service, but I am extremely dissatisfied with customer services. Find somewhere else that will treat you better than this.
I had read the negative reviews on the staff and wait times, so I was prepared for a long wait.
From the moment I was able to make an appointment I was treated with utmost respect, the amount of tests they performed were done quickly and by highly trained and personable staff, and the doctor ( Dr D.) was fantastic GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!!
