Dr Simjee is very sweet women. She has a loud voice because of some hearing loss

Dr. Simjee has been my eye doctor for approximately 40 years. I first met her when I worked in the Emergency Department as an RN. I was so impressed by her performance at that time, I immediately switched to her. I have been very happy with her.

Please stay away from this Doctor for any serious eye issues. Dr. Simjee misdiagnosed a torn retina, which caused me a lot of discomfort for almost two months. Once the tear hemorrhaged six months later and filled my eye up with blood she sent me to a retinal specialist who eventually repaired the tear. Several months later, the eye became blurry and I could not see anything clearly out of my right eye. I went back to Dr. Simjee to see what could be done. After she examined me, she told there was nothing she could do and that I should go back to the retinal specialist to see if they could make it better. Since my new insurance did not cover the visit to the retinal specialist, I decided to wait thinking that this would be a permanent condition. Upon the recommendation of a friend, I went to the So Cal Eye Institute in Los Alamitos for another examination. It took the doctor there less than five minutes to tell me I had a cataract that could be taken care of with a 20 minute surgery!! He also told me that developing a cataract after a retinal tear surgery is extremely common!! Two seriously missed diagnosis.

This was a terrible experience. She should NOT be practicing medicine. First of all she is in an office all by herself which was odd. Until you realize why, she screams when she is with a patient. Everyone in the entire office can hear her conversations. A violation of HIPPA laws. Not only does she scream, with every patient I heard and myself she went on and on about how long she has been practicing medicine and her experience and the universities she attended. She never read my file, I had to have her go back to the file to see what the last doctor wrote. She was completely useless and never diagnosed why I have eye pain. DO NOT GO TO THIS PHSYICIAN OR OFFICE.

Dr. Simjee is excellent! She helped in dropping my eye pressure by showing me the proper way to use my eye drops.

One of the best Eye consultants I have ever seen, very helpful, understands the problem and very informative discussion to help patients. How to deal with the problem.
